It was actually the Dutch production, not the German one. They did the same thing with the Dutch production of The Little Mermaid. Both were failures on Broadway but were retooled internationally and were hits there (and subsequent other countries).

So if there is a chance the Broadway version is not a hit (which I doubt) they could always retool it in The Netherlands or another European country :P.
Oh you're right. Thanks for correcting me. I never realized they both originated in the Netherlands before coming to other European countries. I always hear people talking about the German Tarzan musical, and since the show is still going on there, I guess it makes sense that the German one is more talked about.

Are they trying to suggest that wearing pants makes a woman more empowered?

I don’t mind that they put her in pants—and lbr, it isn’t a coincidence that the vast majority of female characters in Disney films from Snow White to Moana only ever wear dresses/skirts—but I agree that she’s powerful regardless of what she’s wearing. I almost said something like pants would make more sense for the character because of the snow, but then remembered that the cold doesn’t bother her anyway…

Anna would have made more sense for pants considering she’s not immune to the cold like Elsa and she’s traveling for the second half of the story.

It isn't a coincidence, because most of these stories take place in the past when women predominantly only wore dresses, at least in the cultures that Disney typically represents. The contemporary leading ladies like Nani, Penny, Nancy, etc. can wear pants because it fits their modern-day settings.

Anna has a special Sami outfit in the first act of the show where she is dressed like Kristoff and thus has pants. I think she wears it during the snow trek scenes.

Call me crazy, but could they have just popped her in a set of pants purely for the merchandise ?

“Dad !! Check it out, Elsa is wearing PANTS ! Can I PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get this doll / toy / action figure / playset ?? PLEAASSEEE ??????”

I know Broadway gets its own dolls and things, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the general Elsa / Anna line has a look in .....

I like it. The song's definitely further Broadway. I wouldn't put it on level with the highs from the film (LIG, FtFTiF & reprise, LIAOD), but I do like it. Especially the moment where she actually thinks about suicide--that's a natural consequence of being taught what you are is evil. Question though, to anyone who might know: near the end when she says, "But before I .........., I'll do all that I can to make things right!" what is she saying in the blank because I couldn't understand it?

I liked the song too but I didn't *love* it. The bridge when she contemplates suicide is indeed the best part. It reminded me of "No Good Deed" from Wicked which is fitting considering how reminiscent "Let It Go" is of "Defying Gravity".

reminds me of the pants they gave Maleficent in the live action film.

Im kinda mixed about them. I dont think they fit in with the time period at all, but there was already alot of details about the costuming that was wrong for the time period of the film anyway.

I like the song in theory, considering Anna's naivete deserves to be called out. That said, Anna's quips end up being the best half of the song because Kristoff's part comes across like mansplaining.
