At first glance, he reminded me more of Kristoff...

Wow, how many new characters! Thanks for sharing, Clindor! DisneyEra, you were complaining that we don't get any official info about upcoming WDAS movies, and I completely understand you, but you have to admit that getting it through leaks is also fun, don't you think? Well, at least it is for me. :D

I'm glad there will be Sami characters in the movie. And another female character with white hair like Elsa! I wonder if she also has powers.

Then that's probably the fire spirit.

DisneyEra's main issue wasn't that Disney wasn't releasing information about their latest movies, but the fact that all the latest movies are sequels and Disney hasn't bothered with anything featuring their original films.

I'm glad there will be Sami characters as well after they were practically removed from the first. I wonder if Kristoff is still supposed to be Sami. It would be interesting if they have Kristoff find his real family in this film.

Oops, sorry, you're right. DisneyEra's latest comments regarding this were about the lack of promotion for original WDAS movies, and this is a sequel. Also, now that I've read my post again, it seems I'm complaining about DisneyEra's complaints, and that wasn't my intention. Like DisneyEra, I also want more original movies from Disney and getting more official info about them. What I wanted with my post is to point out that there are some positive aspects about the lack of official info from Disney and that leaks are also an interesting way of learning about upcoming Disney movies.

This sequel unlike Ralph breaks the Internet is justified. The original made over S1.2 Billion worldwide, sold a TON of merchandise "Frozen is it's own Brand", & won WDAS it's first Oscars since 1999's Tarzan. Any other studio, we'd be on Frozen 3 by now.

I admit that the leaks were fun earlier in the decade, but now, they're becoming repetitive, is it so hard for WDAS to make official announcements for they're upcoming features. If Dragon Empire is announced at D23 next month, we already knew about it for over a year.

WDAS hasn't announced an original feature since Gigantic at D23 in 2015. Almost 4 years! I'm just eager to see were the studio is going after Frozen 2 & in to the 2020s. Are they going to do more sequels ala Ralph Breaks the Internet/Frozen 2, or introduce new original features in the post John Lasseter era. It's Jennifer Lee's studio now, What's she gonna do :?

^I understand your frustration, DisneyEra. It's true that the cancelation of the only original feature Disney had in its lineup was disappointing, and we still don't have confirmation from Disney of any upcoming film after Frozen 2. But, if the rumors are true, that will finally change next month with the D23 Expo and the films they'll announce will be all original.

I didn't catch that video before it was deleted. I guess this is the leaked song, right? I don't know if it'll be the next "Let It Go", but it doesn't sound bad from that short snippet.

Kristen Bell also talked about one of the film's songs recently:

Quote:
"There is a song that is not has anthemic as 'Let It Go.' It’s a little more of a ballad," she told Access.

"But I will tell you that it has been stuck in my head since the moment I heard it. I've been singing it to my daughters since the moment I heard it and they sing it back to me."

She then joked that even though most people don't understand them, she probably should have made her two daughters, 6 and 4, that she shares with Dax Shepard, sign a nondisclosure agreement.

Aw man, was hoping Elsa's powers were connected to Norse mythology or something like that. Though I suppose Marvel would forbid them from using the Norse gods...

Don't worry, I never felt that you were complaining about anyone. I understood the point of your post and I just wanted to correct your misconception.

It looks more like a salamander, but the lizard Zootoca vivipara is common in northern areas like what we see in the movie and tolerate cold climate better than the salamanders that live in Scandinavia.

Finally catching up with this forum  (I'm going on vacation all next week, so I'm replying all of my thoughts now!)

Seems like WDAS read Tumblr in 2013 because they're including Sami culture in a gigantic way. The translation is surprising, but Disney really showed its awareness by making the Sami characters POC, which was the Tumblr avalanche since Day 1 on Tumblr. So, Disney is def. getting "woke." :P

But, all in seriousness, I love the racial diversity! There are so many characters and I can't wait to meet them all and find out who they are. I just hope WDAS makes disabled characters (not aging, the usual amputee etc.) in the near future. :(

Post subject:  Re: Frozen 2

ok Im confused b/c Im looking up pics of Sami on Google and I just see white people. Are there darker skinned Sami? :? I really hope they aren't forcing a darker skinned race on a race that is supposed to be white, just to get articles from online sites saying how diverse Disney is. Please no. That's just hypocrisy. Unless they specify that this tribe of forest people arent actually "Sami" but some made up tribe for the film. That's something I can see Disney do.

Im fine with there being racial diversity in this film... Im fine with a black guard and say... black royalty/dignitaries at a ball, or whatever. That seems plausible. Just as long as they don't go 90's tv movie Cinderella crazy on us, lol.

Post subject:  Re: Frozen 2

The only explanation I can think of is if they are visitors from remote kingdoms further south. Even if that would have been highly unusual in the era the story is supposed to take place. Inventing a dark skinned tribe just to be politically correct wouldn't come as a surprise. Making the Sami dark would be insane. The kingdom itself may be fictional, but it is supposed to take place in Norway if I got it right.

There are no dark skinned Sami, even if some have certain facial features that most people associate with Asians. There are even lots of blonde Sami, but that is probably because they have mixed so much with other natives in the area (Renée Zellweger is part Sami). I say natives because even if the Sami are called indigenous people, that often creates the wrong impression. One may think that Norwegians, Swedes, and Finns invaded their country and stole it from them. That is incorrect. The fact is that all of them have lived in these areas for so long that it doesn't really matter who came first, if that argument is ever settled. They were all there as hunters, gatherers and farmers, long before the industrial revolution, and before the nations and their borders were invented. The nations and later modern civilizations were gradually emerging naturally like in rest of Europe and the world, created by the people already living there. What makes the Sami different is that some (between five and ten percent), are still living like their nomadic ancestors parts of the year (the rest of the year they live in normal houses and most of them have more conventional jobs), following their reindeers, even if they use modern tools like cell phones and snow scooters. They have a language, culture and clothes that is different from the majority in the countries they live in (and the majorities have in turn their own languages, cultures and clothes for special occasions).

I thought the Sami were dark skinned because I remember there were complaints when Frozen was released that Kristoff wore Sami clothes but was completely white. But Disney shouldn't make them dark skinned if they aren't; it's important to be accurate with things like this. However, could it be possible that they had darker skin and hair in the past, when Frozen is supposed to be set, because they hadn't mixed so much yet with other natives in the area?
