I liked the premiere. (I watched the re-runs on Saturday, seeing “Togetherness” and the last episode for the first time; too bad they didn’t air the whole thing.)

I didn’t care for Kylie Minogue’s song, but the rest of it was enjoyable. My favorite part was the fortune-teller. The actor and that whole part were hilarious, not speaking of the bit about Isabella’s brooch. The actress for Isabella’s voice reminded me of a better version of Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, or it might’ve been the song sounding similar to something out of Tangled that made me think that. Madalena’s actress has grown on me.

"ABC’s Galavant returned on Sunday night to an average of 3.25 million total viewers and a 0.9 rating, down from both its freshman finale (4.4 mil/1.1) and its Season 1 average (4.8 mil/1.3), hitting and tying series lows."

Say goodbye to Season 3. unless Netflix or Hulu picks it up.

I don't think anyone was expecting the ratings to go up.

I forgot to comment on the last airing. The episodes were a little boring, and I don’t remember the music standing out too much. They referenced “Kiss the Girl,” but the song wasn’t that good. I did like the plot of Isabella being controlled by the crown, and the villain was entertaining. At least the actress gets to do more than look depressed this way. Not a fan of Richard’s hamfisted love interest though. Madalena’s really growing on me. That character is the only thing that’s improved this season.

I think what I’m disappointed by is the fact that the trios (Galavant/Sid/Isabella and Gareth/Richard/Chef) are broken up this season. Most of the show’s charm was in those characters’ interactions and chemistry.

These two episodes were like night and day. The first one flat-out sucked, music and all. I guess I did like the Gareth/Madalena interactions though. Thankfully the second episode was leagues better; loved all the songs in that one. “The Forest of Coincidence” was hilarious. I’m glad things finally moved along a bit, with Isabella leaving Hortensia(sp?) and Syd reuniting with Galavant.

The song with Galavant and the orphans reminded me so much of something at the time. I believe it’s “At the Ball” from Cinderella: Twist in Time or the yodeling song from Home On the Range? I thought it was funny how the dwarves/giants acted like they were in West Side Story during that one number.

I just got done catching up with the current episodes of this season.... And it's been poor.

The story is boring and way too stretched out. The number of things that happen in this show that are irrelevant are too many to count. One of my big complains from the first season was that the show was having a little of bit of trouble balancing the silliness and the seriousness of the show... This season, it's like 90% silly, 10% serious and I don't like it.

The characters are not being developed at all, and when they do develop it's out of no where and quick. Way way way too many characters for a show that is only 10 episodes long.

And lastly, the songs are horrible. I've actually started skipping songs because I just can't get into them. The lyrics are pretty bad, the production values are not that good, and they're just plain boring.

Similarly on the other side of the network... I've been watching Crazy Ex-Girlfriend on the CW and that show has also lost it's ability to keep my attention when it comes to the songs.

I'll probably finish watching Galavant, but I'd be shocked if this show was renewed for a third season. I still can't for the life of me figure out why it was renewed for a second season... Bad business decision I guess?

It seemed like a conscious decision since they already knew the ratings were in the toilet. They're probably just putting it there as filler between OUAT's half seasons because of the similar genre. I'd be just as shocked at a third season as I was a second season, so it's about as possible now as it was then.

I don't think music is bad, but it's much spottier than the first season. I have a feeling Menken/Slater aren't putting their all into it after the first season's music received no recognition.

I like how this show uses its complete lack of an fx budget to the comedy's advantage... the "pet" dragon, the giants and the dwarves being the same size, lol...

Nice to finally have Galavant and Syd back together. I can’t believe we’ve gone the entire season without Galavant and Isabella having a scene together, or Gareth and Richard. (Still not feeling Richard’s love interest, btw.)

I loved Madalena’s scenes with Gareth, Wormwood, and especially her one with Isabella. I didn’t really love the song, but the actresses sold it so well that it worked for me. Gareth’s song and the “Summer Nights” parody made me laugh. The Death song was probably my favorite of these two episodes.

I never did post, but just wanted to say that I enjoyed the finale. It was thankfully Richard-lite. And if this really is the end, I thought it went out at a good spot. I wouldn’t mind a third season where we complete Madalena’s arc and got more of Galavant/Isabella together (rather than separated), but I’d be satisfied with this as the ending.

The little moments with Sid talking about The Enchanted Forest, Chef and wife singing before they die, and shoving “Menken” in there were also funny. “Do the D'DEW” had me rolling. I loved how they stopped to have Madalena give us a “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo/Higitus Figitus/Spoonful of Sugar” song. rotfl

I guess I'm the only one who got what they were expecting and wanted out of this show. All I wanted was something halfway entertaining to distract me during OUAT's break, and it's worked for me.

Same for me.

And I think that this second season was more entertaining than the first one.

Sorry to see it go because it was very fun and some of the music was great, but it was a miracle it got a second season so at least we got as much as we did!

I'll miss the show. It wasn't much, but I always knew I'd be entertained. At least, if it gets a stage show, hopefully we'll get a cast recording.

There's going to be a complete series soundtrack release!
Q: Do we know if we'll ever get a full S1 album released?

Alan Menken: We will. Yes.
Source: https://twitter.com/AIMenken/status/731611781441982468
Q: Do we know if we'll ever get a full S1 album released?

Glenn Slater: We're working on a S1-S2 Complete CD. Stay tuned!
Source: https://twitter.com/SlaterLyrics/status ... 5375677440
Q: This is easily the best news I've heard all day. Reprises too?

Glenn Slater: All. Of. It.
Source: https://twitter.com/SlaterLyrics/status ... 0668083200
Q: Do you have any idea if another CD is going to be released including the songs from S1 and ones that could not be used?

Glenn Slater: There's gonna be a 2-CD set, with all songs/reprises from S1-S2. Not sure there's room for outtakes/demos, though.
Source: https://twitter.com/SlaterLyrics/status ... 2242872320
Q: Any idea when?

Glenn Slater: Soon..ish? It's definitely in active mode as we speak.
Source: https://twitter.com/SlaterLyrics/status ... 2064125952
Q: Any chance you’ll release Galavant CDs with Hero's Journey, Stand Up, Dance Until You Die, A Happy Ending for Us & Secret Mission?

Alan Menken: YES! Soon...
Source: https://twitter.com/AIMenken/status/770104200609009664
Q: There's still plans to release a complete soundtrack, right?

Glenn Slater: Yup, still in the works.
Source: https://twitter.com/SlaterLyrics/status ... 8876835840
Q: Are y'all still working on complete Galavant s1 and s2 soundtrack that you tweeted about a bit back?

Glenn Slater: Still happening. I'm not working on it directly, so not sure why it's taking so long, but it's definitely coming.
Source: https://twitter.com/SlaterLyrics/status ... 8863413248
Q: Do you know if there are any updates on the full Galavant soundtrack?

Glenn Slater: Yes! We're working on the CD booklet this week! Should be ready to go in a couple of months.
Source: https://twitter.com/SlaterLyrics/status ... 1179317248
Q: Yes! We may finally get our full Galavant soundtrack yet.

Glenn Slater: Not "may", this is for realsies! Every song, plus some stuff from the cutting room floor.
Source: https://twitter.com/SlaterLyrics/status ... 3352067077
Q: Wait, wait, wait. "More" as in "songs that weren't on the show?"

Glenn Slater: Yup, we're including a couple of demos that didn't make the final cut!
Source: https://twitter.com/SlaterLyrics/status ... 6531719168
Q: I want to hear Vinnie's version of "Your Mother Is A Whore"! On CD?

Glenn Slater: It will be the All-Menken version - the suits spiked it before we got Vinnie on tape. Still pretty funny with Alan singing all the parts!
Source: https://twitter.com/SlaterLyrics/status ... 5513606145
Q: Did Secret Mission make it on this time?

Glenn Slater: Absolutely!
Source: https://twitter.com/SlaterLyrics/status ... 6838463488
Q: It'd be great if there were several instrumental pieces included. The instrumentation of the songs is quite underrated from Christopher Lennertz.

Glenn Slater: Every song and reprise from both seasons will be included. Sadly, not enough room for Christopher Lennertz's amazing score.
Source: https://twitter.com/SlaterLyrics/status ... 3549180930
Q: I need to know -- was the uncensored version of "Your Mother is a Whore" recorded, or were the beeps in from the beginning?

Glenn Slater: The bleeps are actually written in - part of the joke was to make the audience imagine the filth being bleeped. Especially that looong one!
Source: https://twitter.com/SlaterLyrics/status ... 7604470786
Glenn Slater: There will be a 2 Season set, it will be available at Amazon & iTunes, and it will be available in an on-demand physical CD.
Source: https://twitter.com/SlaterLyrics/status ... 3971210240
Q: Can I buy the CD in stores in US this summer, or just online?

Glenn Slater: My understanding is, it's an on-demand CD pressing, so most likely not available in actual stores.
Source: https://twitter.com/SlaterLyrics/status ... 1070312450
Q: Now, with GALAVANT, I read that they're just releasing the unreleased collection digitally today but not the full CD set yet?

Glenn Slater: Yeah, there's been some confusion that we're in the middle of sorting out. They've released what's being called "The Unreleased Collection," which is the songs that got left out of the season 1 release and the season 2 release. It's about 20 tracks. But that was meant to be a side issue for people who had already bought those first two [seasons]. The main event was supposed to be that they were releasing the season 1 and season 2 complete CD set today. Somehow, that announcement and rollout got boxed, and I know it's getting remedied right now.

But it's going to be available digitally on iTunes and on Amazon. And I believe there's going to be an on-demand physical pressing of a CD with a booklet. So I'm sure they'll have an announcement out about that as soon as possible, hopefully later today. But yes, we finally got everything from GALAVANT out on CD. This is everything that made it into the TV show. Some of the tracks are longer than what were on the TV show because in some cases, things had to be trimmed for time. And there are also a couple of demos that got either cut or censored. That would just be Alan [Mencken] doing the vocals with his synth demos just for the fans - just a nice taste of what could have been.

I knew it would happen eventually, which is why I never bought the incomplete album they released last year.

Huzzah and Tally Ho! The song A New Season from "Galavant" has has been nominated for an Emmy. This was actually the only song from the show that was submitted for consideration. Oddly, last year the show was snubbed and none of the songs were nominated. Here's hoping for a long-overdue win!

Update: The song from Galavant lost to the song from The Hunting Ground. :(
