Glenn Close Wants To Play Cruella Again & Teases Story For A Sequel
https://screenrant.com/cruella-movie-se ... tory-idea/

Perhaps that's why Glenn Close decided not to appear at the end of this film--she wants to be the main star of a sequel? I know she's half-joking, but if that were actually possible, I'd hope this one does well only because I'd love to see another film of Close playing Cruella, no offense to Stone. That said, I have a hard time seeing it doing as well as Maleficent did to justify a sequel considering how goofy it all looks, but who knows.

That's quite an unusual poster for Disney. It reminds me of the poster for The Usual Suspects.

I would really like a third film with Glenn Close, but if Cruella is very successful and they decide to make a sequel, I think Emma Stone is more likely to play Cruella in it than her. Maybe they could do something like what they're doing with The Lion King live-action sequel (a mix of prequel and sequel) and have both Glenn Close and Emma Stone in it. Although, would it feel convincing that they're the same person? Emma and Glenn look (and sound) nothing alike. Come to think of it, maybe that's why Glenn doesn't make a cameo in this movie.

^What did you think of the song "Call Me Cruella"? It's not particularly memorable or unique, and its lyrics are very basic, but I liked the sleek, sultry vibe to it. The vocals were good too. Aside from the indie rock sound to it, at times it sounded quite James Bond-esque too. I hated though that it rhymed "De Vil" with "hills". While it's a common practice in songwriting, singular forms don't rhyme with plurals. Do you think it stands a chance to get nominated for an Oscar? I think it will definitely get shortlisted, but I'm not sure it'll get nominated given the intense competition in the category this year.

Well, I have more or less the same opinion of it as you. I also liked its vibe and how it's sung. It seems to fit the style of the movie quite well. I've listened to the score, and it also fits its style. It shows the score composer also worked on it. It's a nice song, but I agree it's not that memorable. I liked the end-credits song from Raya and the Last Dragon, for example, much more. And isn't it a bit short? It's just two minutes long. Maybe that's why it also feels a bit incomplete to me. As for its Oscar chances, I don't think it's Oscar-worthy, but who knows. I didn't find "Carried Me with You" from Onward Oscar-worthy either, for example, and it was nominated for several awards, so maybe I'm wrong.

Well, Cruella will be coming to Romanian theaters as well. I was going to ask a friend from France to send me a copy of the movie from Disney+, but I think I'll be going to see it in the theater. I haven't seen a movie in the theater since Star Wars - The Rise of Skywalker, in December 2019.

The song is nice and I like Florence + the Machine, but I don't think it will be nominated. I can see this film being nominated for Costume Design, Production Design, Make Up and Hairstyling, Actress(?) and Supporting Actress(?).

I agree about the first three categories. I can even see it winning, at least for Costume Design and Make Up and Hairstyling. The last two seem a bit more unlikely to me, given that the Academy mostly nominate actors from drama films, but not impossible.

I noticed that too. It's too short and it feels unfinished. The ending of the song was a bit abrupt too. I agree, you never can be certain when it comes to awards. There have been a lot of odd choices the last few years.
D82 wrote:Cruella’s Cast and Director Talk Potential Sequel Ideas, Including Remaking 101 Dalmatians

If there's going to be a sequel, it's going to be Cruella 2, not a 101 Dalmatians remake. A remake wouldn't make sense given Cruella's characterization in this film.

Neither of them is getting an Oscar nomination. Their performances are too campy for that. However, I could see one or both of them get a Golden Globe nomination, if the awards take place this year.

Regarding whether a sequel to Cruella would adapt 101 Dalmatians again, the thing is every time Disney has done something with the property, the timeline is changed and characters are tweaked. The funny thing is the animated film is by far the most faithful to Dodie Smith's book, with the biggest changes in the adaptation coming from removing a few characters and changing some of the names. And then each 101 Dalmatians since then (the live-action movies with Glenn Close, the '90s animated series, 101 Dalmatian Street, Cruella) have just picked and chosen certain elements and created their own alternate universe. That's why Roger keeps having different jobs and why Roger and Anita's last names are never consistent. Ditto the names of the puppies. Despite Cadpig being a prominent puppy in the book, her only ever appearance in any further media has been the '90s animated show.

So I've come to accept that every iteration of 101 Dalmatians will be vastly different from the last. Only 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure matches the continuity of the animated film. So if they choose to adapt 101 Dalmatians again with Emma Stone's version of Cruella, it's doable, even with the changes.
