I thought I'd add one more thing we used to have and wonder if we can't get back. We used to be able to click "quote" before we signed in, and automatically the quote would be there in the type space once signed in. Just wondering if we can have that again. And I guess we can't change the giant ads taking up space at the top of the site?

ps. Omg Pasta! You still read here! You do care!

Glad this thread has been unlocked so I can also congratulate the new mods (I agree - great choices!) and to thank everyone for their work both over the years and with the recent changes. Everything looks great!

Oh, and is it now a new thing that links take the place of the site now? Can it go back to the old way where links would open in a new window?

And so now what is the way to embed Youtube videos?

When you're about to make a post, take a look at the buttons underneath the typical HTML stuff. There's a 'youtube' option.

I wish we could spoiler tag pictures. Saves up space.

Ive tried that, couldn't get it to work for the life of me. Unless it changes from the preview to the actual post. I didnt post it that way since it wasnt working in the preview.

Make sure it looks like:

Code: Select all

and not:

Code: Select all

Just copy and paste the main link from the address bar. If there is more in the link than shown above, then remove the excess pieces. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7QhUL8NUK4

What did you mean "more in the link than shown above"?

Hey Hogi Bear, this is a good opportunity to change your signature, since now a bunch of other animated films got nominated for Best Picture. Just Up and Toy Story 3 I think.

When Toy Story 3 won got nominated, I changed it from the only animated film to hand drawn, but I guess you could be right, I haven't really changed that part of it in the last 7 years. I'll have a think about it.

In regards to "more in the link than shown above", sometimes the link in your address bar may be more than the basic address, like if you're watching something in playlist mode for example.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rT9kp3Z- ... 8&index=70
should be
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rT9kp3Z-Emg

So the format that the system has been setup for, is to grab a YouTube link with http://www.youtube.com/ and watch?v=rT9kp3Z-Emg (with the rT9kp3Z-Emg being the Video ID) and nothing else.

The system for converting what is in the tags to html (embed code that you can get from youtube.com) is very specific.

Hope that helps.

That does help, thanks! And I didn't notice your signature said "hand drawn" film specifically, sorry. Toy Story 3 didn't win though.

Speaking of signatures, maybe we can make some Ultimate Disney ones and use it on other forums we're a member of to sort of advertise the forum. 8)

I don't believe I have commented yet, but thumbs up for the refresh! :) As much as I'll nostalgically miss the old style board, this forum was in dire need of revamp, and it's great to see so many old-time members posting again, even if only sporadically. Congrats on all involved, and hurray for Sotiris and enigmawing becoming moderators. :)

Oh, and I did find it funny that so many polls were created as soon as the poll feature had been fixed.

I never got an answer, and if you can only write "We can't/won't too that and it's too long to explain" that's ok, but what about making the "quote" option available before logging in first like we used to have, and also opening links in new windows like we used to have?
