It reminded me of the 1950's UPA shorts a bit in it's visual style. It was okay but I was expecting a little more in the style of Runaway Brain as well. Any new animation on Disney channel is a good thing.

I absolutely love the style! To me they have a 60s animation style to it. It looks much better than the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse designs. These look really cool! Don't see anything cheap about it. :)

Their done in the cheap flash style of animation. These aren't classic hand drawn 2 animated films.

I don't expect or want clones of 40s or 50s Disney Shorts but they look unique and cool in their own right. They don't have to be classic hand drawn. That might come with time. I don't expect all the shorts to look the same. That style fit the theme of the short taking place in France. If I remember correctly, The Aristocats (even though that's 70s) had a similar style (though clearly different).

It's great to see this!! I think this is exactly what Mickey and the gang need right now. Something modern, something different, something new. While I of course love fully hand drawn, traditional Disney shorts, that doesn't mean that everything they do has to look like that. I'm loving what I'm seeing so far!

Thank chip75 for this

I like the animation style. It's nice to see Disney delving outside their comfort zone and using different styles.

Jade, just because the designs are different, that doesn't make them "terrible".

Okay so looking at these shorts as products of the TV animation department, it's looking pretty good.

It's not from WDAS so I'm not judging them as such. This isn't Runaway Brain, but I don't think it's trying to be.

Still a bit of a cop out though. WDAS should and could be handling Mickey with more flair than any other division.

I have to say I'm disappointed. I was expecting high-quality shorts by WDAS instead of low-budget, Flash-animated ones produced by Disney Television Animation. SWillie!, was this what you had seen at Inspire Days?

Having said that, I actually like them for what they are; which is cute, innocuous interstitials that will air in-between programming.

I find the style choice clever. The stylized, retro designs not only pay homage to the early Mickey shorts but also work well with Flash animation and limited funds.

I thought this first short was fun and I enjoyed the Cinderella cameo (although that implies Cinderella was set in France while it was most likely set in Belgium).

Not bad at all. If this was lower budget than something like runaway brain (I assume it has to be) they made a good choice imo. If they were to try to use the stock designs it probably would have turned out looking pretty bland. The lack of polish would have been more obvious. This design gives them more to work with all things considered. Should I assume this was animated in France? Seems like everything they do animation wise involves long chases.

Sotiris - yes, this is what I saw. I only saw character designs, so I knew that they were using the old school pie-eyed designs. But I've been pretty excited ever since and it's good to see the result! I knew they weren't going to be theatrical quality, so I was a little worried when you guys started mentioning Runaway Brain - I wish I could have said something before hopes got too high!

But you're right, for what they are, this is great stuff. A very interesting combination of inspirations. One thing I want to know - are these actually being animated in-house at Disney TV Animation?? Based on the animation quality compared to other TVA products like Phineas an Ferb and Gravity Falls, the animation of these is on a whole different level.

The animation for all of the studio's projects is subcontracted to other studios. Only pre-production and post-production are done in-house.

Perhaps these shorts are animated at a different studio than the rest of them. Someone on Cartoon Brew said that they are animated at Mercury Filmworks in Canada but I wasn't able to verify that information yet.

Having now seen the short, I really like it. Like Maerj said above, it's a very UPA style, but it works. I laughed through the whole thing and it's refreshing to see Mickey in something not aimed squarely at toddlers.

Yeah, I know their work is contracted outside - that's why I thought maybe it was actually being done in house in the case, because the quality is much higher than the TV shows. But that's good to know about the Canada studio, thanks!

I just hate this simplistic flash style for Mickey. I'm so used to watching him in front of beautiful backrounds.

My hopes were definitely high, i was thinking runaway brain, which was AMAZING.

This is something anybody could make.

I like it. This is the funniest cartoon I've ever seen. So what if it's flash animation! It's still hand drawn to me. And I love it when the characters were in old style. :)

 I would love to see your attempt. Obviously, this isn't something *anyone* could make.

Also, I think you need to take another look at those backgrounds. They're pretty fantastic. Very reminiscent of 101 Dalmatians or Aristocats.

Are these in English?

Also the animation reminds me of some of the scenes from the first Epic Mickey

This one is in French. I assume others will be in English, or whatever language makes sense. I'm amazed at all the comments on Facebook saying "please post the English version, I can't even understand what they're saying". It was made in French on purpose - there's no reason for English, because there's no need to understand what they're saying.

TsWade, I'm really glad to hear you like it! I know you've been waiting for this moment!

OMG! It looks awesome! I know it's in flash animation, but it looks very hand drawn to me. Much better than Have A Laugh and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse if you ask me. :) I'm so happy, I'm going to here this song. P.S. I like Broadway Musicals.
