Wow, that's all very exciting! I love it! So I guess Thora Birch is not one of the ones who brings back the witches. I like the sound of these new girls and their relationships to each other. It's too bad they tore down the original witch cottage and have to build a new one. In the "We Love Hocus Pocus" feature, they said the original witch house they built could be lived in!

I'm on the fence. I'd love to have more Hocus Pocus, but I don't think anything will live up to the original either. I read the sequel-book and didn't enjoy it too much, it felt like the author just rewrote the original in the modern-day. Sort of like Force Awakens retreading the same plot points. I'm already hesitant about Becca being an aspiring witch because it could be cringey. Fingers crossed that this new sequel goes well!

So the Instagram account @hocuspocusguide has been posting a lot of set photos. Nothing super spoilery yet, but its only a matter of time before they land photos of the sisters. While there hasn't been any press release about this, a prop sign in one of the photos indicates that Tony Hale is playing the mayor of Salem in the movie. A recently posted video also confirms the three young actresses cast as the lead characters in the film, although I am not familiar with any of them.

Production on the live-action comedy “Hocus Pocus 2,” the haunting sequel to Disney’s Halloween cult classic, is underway in Rhode Island. The Disney+ original film directed by Anne Fletcher (“Dumplin,’” “The Proposal”) will debut exclusively on Disney+ in Fall 2022.

Bette Midler (“The First Wives Club,” “Beaches”), Sarah Jessica Parker (“Sex and the City,” “Divorce”), and Kathy Najimy (“Sister Act,” “Younger”) star as Winifred, Sarah, and Mary, the delightfully wicked Sanderson sisters who bewitched audiences in the 1993 film “Hocus Pocus.” Doug Jones (“The Shape of Water,” “What We Do in the Shadows”) also returns as Billy Butcherson. Joining them are Whitney Peak (“Gossip Girl,” “Molly’s Game”) as Becca, Lilia Buckingham (“Dirt,” “Crown Lake”) as Cassie, and Belissa Escobedo (“American Horror Stories,” “The Baker and the Beauty”) as Izzy, three young women in present-day Salem who incite the wrath of the three witches.

It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters who were executed for practicing witchcraft, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to figure out how to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before midnight on All Hallow’s Eve.

Watched the original over Halloween again. It really is such a fun film. Bette Midler really makes the movie what it is. I hope the sequel can keep the same tone in terms of humor.

Midler, Parker, and Najimy were spotted in costume for the first time on set yesterday. Seems they were only on set for a short period, so it's speculated they were filming some kind of short promotional video, possibly for Disney+ day tomorrow.

Oh, good, the costumes look almost perfectly the same! Najimy is the one whose age shows the most from that picture. I suppose because Winnie was made to look old even in the first one and SJP still looks pretty good for her age.

I noticed that too. I think it's an issue with the photo because she looks much better on her Instagram and on TV. It must have been hastily taken for Disney+ Day.

I think she also looks more changed than the others because she has lost a lot of weight since the first movie. I'm actually surprised that they all look so similar to what they looked back then considering that almost 20 years have passed since the film's release.
