I wonder if this short is very well-received (or, rather, more well-received than it already is pre-release ), would Disney consider creating an entire film with the technique? It sounds really interesting, and I believe I would prefer it to plain 3D.
Listening to most often lately:
Ariana Grande ~ "we can't be friends (wait for your love)"
Ariana Grande ~ "imperfect for you"
Kacey Musgraves ~ "The Architect"

They already are. Musker and Clements' new film is going to utilize this CG/2D hybrid technique. It is currently in early development and multiple tests are being done.Disney's Divinity wrote:I wonder if this short is very well-received, would Disney consider creating an entire film with the technique?
For sure. This is the future of animation. At least, it's a massive step towards the idea that photorealism is not what animated films need to necessarily be shooting for. There is a ton of unexplored territory in the CG realm, and I think this busts the doors open to the idea of exploring it further.

Well, I'm not so sure about that. Perhaps artistically, certainly not commercially. I doubt it will be changing the nature of the industry like the introduction of CG animation did. That would require a series of blockbuster films created with this technique over a long period of time.SWillie! wrote:This is the future of animation.
