Elves Still Going?
http://animationguildblog.blogspot.com/ ... going.html
Anon #1: Btw, does anyone know of the whereabouts of Clements & Musker? Are they still at Disney after Mort's cancellation? Are they pitching new ideas? Are they working on a project?

Anon #2: I spoke to Ron Clements by phone about 2-3 weeks ago. He said that Mort might still see the light of day and that he's still at Disney. Ron and John are working on ideas if Mort doesn't work out. We also talked some about hand-drawn animation and he told me overall they've been pretty supportive.

Anon #3: I know Ron and John are still there and they went up to Pixar about a month ago, I think to pitch some features (2D).
Steve Hulett wrote:I heard laughter coming out of Ron's office a few days ago, when I stumbled by. I peeked around the corner and there Ron was. Didn't peek around the corner enough to see who else was in there.

Word is that they'll be pitching stories to Mr. Lasseter soon. If Disney can land the rights to Mort, they'll probably do it. Certainly the motivation and enthusiasm for the projects is there.
Untitled Road...

Presuming that another film gets released that year, it is likely to be the new hand-drawn film from John Musker and Ron Clements. And no, I'm not talking "Mort" as the rights to that would have required the Mouse to purchase the entire series, which it didn't want to commit to. So this new project is something else that the duo has pitched Lasseter. All that is known, is that it will be hand-drawn.

Steve Hulett wrote:The Disney animators who do hand-drawn stuff inform me that another "traditional" animated feature is in early development, but management hasn't yet decided whether to green-light another one or not.
I think that the hand-drawn feature that's in development is the Mickey Mouse feature and the "other" hand-drawn feature that has yet to be greenlit is the Musker & Clements film.

Clements & Musker may keep hand drawn animation alive all by themselves over at Disney.

TPatF was good but missing some life, it could drag a bit at times. Hope they can spice things up with their follow-up.

Yikes! I wonder how Disney will get around the incestuous theme of the tale. The anime version didn't really shy away from making it a plot point.

It's probably not true. The numerous inappropriate plot points and themes would make Disney not even consider the tale at all for an adaptation. Besides, that anonymous poster said "I read Disney is working on..." but I've searched and couldn't find any report that Disney is working on it. So, it's probably just a false rumour.

Since people are tired of the NC and Darth Vader's NOOOOO clips, I'll use this instead:

HA-HA OH WOW. If that's true that is hilariously lulzy.

Then again Marvel is more kickass than Disney anyway.

It's merely a rumour. The link the anonymous poster provided is totally irrelevant; there is nothing about Disney, Marvel or the "Guardians of Galaxy" there.

Didn't stop them from taking Hercules and turning it into Superman. I'm not familiar with Donkeyskin, but very little in the original Greek myth of Hercules is appropriate for the family demographic Disney aims towards.

Agreed. I mean a king wanting to marry his own daughter even though he has no choice? Yeah, that doesn't spell out controversy.

Tonight at the Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley, John Musker said that the film will be mostly hand-drawn 2D but have elements of 3D CGI, and IT WILL BE A MUSICAL. He didn't drop any more details about the new movie, but he did talk a lot of shit on the DTV sequels haha.

I hope Menken does the music, or at least someone other than Newman. Not that TP&TF has a horrible soundtrack (I particularly enjoyed "DiNO"), it definitely wasn't a huge favorite and hearing Newman was involved would be a little bit of a let-down.

Not that Menken is entirely reliable either. Tangled's soundtrack wasn't great either (though there were parts of the score that were memorable). Still, one so-so film isn't enough to turn me, considering Enchanted had some pretty nice songs (like "That's How You Know").
