Do we consider this a remake of Oliver & Company?

Re: Oliver Twist
Not really, since Oliver and Company is basically Oliver Twist, except Oliver is a cat, Dodger is a dog and a few other things, along with the movie being set in 1980s New York instead of Industrial London.

Re: Oliver Twist
I was actually hoping Disney would give this another go, because I despise their previous live-action take as well as Oliver and Company. But I've lost interest now that I know this is going to be a modern take on the story, or at least a modern musical version of it. I'll stick with the 2005 Roman Polanski version.

I love Oliver and Company, the movie that made me a Disney animation fan! Im surprised they havent tried a cheap Beverly Hills Chihuahua type remake of it.
In a way this is sorta a remake of O& C b/c it will be a modern take of it like the animated version is.

When did Disney do Oliver Twist before? Other than Oliver & Company of course.
Uh...I wouldn't say a modern take on a story is remake of a different time, place, and species modern take on a story.unprincess wrote:I love Oliver and Company, the movie that made me a Disney animation fan! Im surprised they havent tried a cheap Beverly Hills Chihuahua type remake of it.

They made a tv version of it for The Wonderful World of Disney in 1997. It had Elijah Wood as Dodger and Richard Dreyfuss as Fagin.Disney Duster wrote:When did Disney do Oliver Twist before? Other than Oliver & Company of course.

Strange that they're making a remake of a musical that isn't really theirs. I'm still not interested in the modern take they're going with.

They're not. They're doing their own musical adaptation of Oliver Twist.JeanGreyForever wrote:Strange that they're making a remake of a musical that isn't really theirs.

Me neither. Do we really need a hip-hop, breakdancing Oliver?JeanGreyForever wrote:I'm still not interested in the modern take they're going with.

In the article posted above, it said Walt Disney Remake of Oliver! so that's why I thought that.Sotiris wrote:They're not. They're doing their own musical adaptation of Oliver Twist.JeanGreyForever wrote:Strange that they're making a remake of a musical that isn't really theirs.

Re: Oliver Twist
I got a dvd copy of this movie and saw it once. I did not like it because it deviated too much from the original novel for my taste. But I suppose that’s the Dickens purist in me.estefan wrote:They made a tv version of it for The Wonderful World of Disney in 1997. I still consider David Lean’s classic adaptation from 1948 as the best so far.

Re: Oliver Twist (Remake)
I think Oliver should be played by Madeleine Haynes, Lola Moxom or Ruby Stokes. Which ever was the one i saw att the Piccadilly Theatre in 2016.

I love Eddie Redmayne although I would never picture him as Fagin. Isn't Fagin usually older?

Re: Oliver Twist (Remake)
I am really confused . Is the Oliver Twist movie that Michael Caine and Rita Ora are staring the Disney one that is based on the stage musical with Ron Moody ? or is this a completely different Oliver Twist movie without songs or any involment from Disney ?
And is this the one with Jude Laws son im ity and is it also the same movie Ice Cube was suposed to star in at frist ?
Or are there more than one Oliver Twist movie being made ? Please clear things up !
Also is Eddie Redmayne or Michael Caine actually playing Fagin ? News sources says both are are some articles lies or are these different Oliver Twist movies ?

Re: Oliver Twist (Remake)
The Oliver Twist with Michael Caine and Jude Law's son is going to be a made-for-television British production.
The one Disney is making is still with Ice Cube attached, much to my knowledge.

Maybe you should post about the British television version in a different thread to avoid confusion ?
