I may not like her, myself but she's an 18 year old girl. She's done stupid stuff but never anything illegal or anything that would hurt other people. She's just a stupid kid.

I'm not much of a Miley fan, especially compared to Demi, but she's been growing on me lately. Especially thanks to her SNL episode, that song in particular. I've even been growing to like her a little more than Selena, who seems to be increasingly more plastic to me as the days go by.

But this is a Lion King thread, not a former Disney Channel pop princesses thread, so we should move on.

As for me, I still haven't got the Blu, since I was holding out on someone getting it for me for my birthday. No one did, so I'll try to catch up eventually. I'm not in too much of a rush this time, since I've seen the movie more than virtually any other film, and even went to the 3D release.

Yeah, but that doesn't stop her for being a liar and a hypocrite.

Yeah, I hear you! Even though I did purchase this on release day, I still haven't watched it. I rarely watch The Lion King, Toy Story, or Mary Poppins anymore because I've seen them sooooooooo many times over the years.

Panasonic, one of Disney’s biggest Blu-ray supporters, has issued a firmware update a couple of days ago to fix the Virtual Vault issue. I’m not sure when the rest of the manufactures will issue updates but those of us with Panasonic players can now enjoy Virtual Vault in all it’s sound dropping endlessly buffering glory. Now if only they'd issue a replacement program that fixes the missing clouds.

I haven't gotten it yet someone who have, how it holds up? is it good? is there features in it that the platinum didn't have? What about the deleted scenes? Are there more than what the platinum gave us?

So can someone fill me in on all this before I decide to buy it?

I remember watching that episode with my parents, and my mother was making fun of that song for days--especially Cyrus’ goat vibrato.

Has anyone compared the Diamond and Platinum editions yet? I doubt I'll buy this, but I'd like a comparison of the different features.

@Super Aurora The extras are:

-Disney Enhanced High Definition Picture and Sound (i guess the restoration is a bonus feature now)

-4 deleted scenes

-Bloopers and Outtakes: it's like the bloopers at the end of Bug's Life, silly stuff

-The Morning Report song

-Pride of The Lion King: a 40 minute retrospective on Lion King which is decent but they talk a LOT about the broadway play. It's interesting though.

-The Lion King: A Memoir: a 20 minute featurette where Dohn Hahn give his personal reflection on making lion king

-Disney Sing Along mode (which i think was on the Platinum Edition where the lyrics appear during the songs)

-Photo Galley: i havent looked at those but i think its got 200+ photos

It is underwhelming in my opinion but it's not so bad i think if you watch the Diamond and Platinum extras back to back. Kind of like Snow White Platinum where the "making of" was on disc 1 and the other extras where on disc 2. I hope that helped :)

This is what Luke said on the UD review. I didnt see those either since my friend wanted to see the 40 min doc and i left after that

"The sequences provide an uncharacteristic joke and song from Mufasa, two Zazu-Scar exchanges (one leading into what became Broadway's "The Madness of King Scar" and then reprising "Be Prepared"), and an alternate version of Simba and Nala's reunion."

hmmm funny. so none of the ones in platinum edition are in it nor is the alternate scar's ending scene either. Why the fuck does disney do this? Why can't they just put in all of the deleted scenes in?

Yeah i'm really surprised. I'm pretty new to blu-ray (i only have Dumbo and Lion King so far) but i would think the disc would have enough room for the Platinum extras. If not, just put all of the Platinum and new stuff on a second disc. The movie itself looks pretty great though. Depends on how much you like/love the movie really. I needed this one since my evil aunt scratched up my platinum lol

im still trying to decide on the blu. ive got the 04 dvd, but dont want to end up regretting not buying it.

up to last year. USED copies of the 04 dvd were fetching up to $150NZD online. i was lucky and a local store got a single copy in by mistake... a friend grabbed it for me. they also got a single copy of aladdin and 2 or 3 of bambi, so i got the 3 for retail.

Is it just me or does anyone else lean more towards the DVD than the blu-ray because of how neat it looks? It's refreshing to see something other than grey!

I agree with you. I was thinking about this yesterday. I was so sick of the DVD's looking grey and it was refreshing to see a cover with an actual picture.

Yeah that is one appealing disc! And what's crazy is that as pretty as it is, they still went ahead and made the DVD version crap. It doesn't even have the reused audio commentary, it only has the 20 min Don Hahn featurette and nothing else.

Australian Disney DVDs have always been full colour photos like that. What gets me is the size of the DVD and Blu-Ray logos on the discs. It's as big as the title! I'll post up a pic of the Australian discs later.
