Hi everyone,

I've just stumbled upon this thread and I thought I'd share my thoughts on the Disney Classics Spine Logos. If anyone has seen any of my YouTube videos, you will know that I am a big fan of the logos and think a full collection will look incredible. Because of that, I have modified the spines of each of my Disney Classic DVDs and sequels so they fit the pattern.

Hopefully I will have attatched a photo of my collection to this post, or you can check out a video on YouTube. Sorry for the really bad quality - I wanted to fit the whole collection in. As you'll be able to see, they don't look incredible (you could even say some of them look tacky), but I like them and I'd love to hear any thoughts that anyone on here may have about the collection.

Thanks,
Joe
Hey Joe, that looks so awesome.

I know exactly what you mean about being a fan of the Logos and full collection. I was just thinking about that today! I've considered printing my own conformity edits myself, but I'm no good with graphics, so it's great to see someone else much nitpicky and actually gone ahead and done it :D

Ah, I see... So I take it that newer BD releases like The Princess and the Frog and Tangled should come 'equipped' with the numbered spines? But what about Bolt, Dinosaur, Chicken Little and Meet the Robinsons Blu-rays?

All versions of The Princess and the Frog and Tangled are definitely numbered. I believe the single disc version of Bolt (without a blue border / basically the full cover artwork version) is numbered as it was released in 2011 and they introduced the spine numbers in 2010, I don't think the combo pack (with DVD, blue border around artwork and matching blue spine) has one though as it was released in 2009 and I'm not sure about the 3D version. Dinosaur is not part of the Disney Animated Classics list in the UK unfortunately, The Wild is in the list instead, therefore Dinosaur won't be numbered and as for Chicken Little and Meet The Robinsons, I've seen pictures of the re-issued versions with numbered spines but they're quite tricky to find. I'm currently looking for those 2 at the moment and I'm wondering whether I should take a chance and order them with my Disney Movie Rewards as we are now in 2012 and am hoping the old stock without the numbered spines are hopefully on their way out and possibly the newer stock will be the re-issued versions. Can anyone who've ordered those 2 films recently with their Disney Movie Rewards confirm whether they have numbered spines or not please...? I'd appreciate it, thanks.

Oh, by the way, there have been at least 3 versions of both Meet The Robinson and Chicken Little so be careful what to look out for.

Version 1 - Original 2007 release (also came with Disney holograms)

Chicken Little - With silver side swoop border, no numbered spine and "Walt Disney Classics" logo

Meet The Robinsons - With silver side swoop border, no numbered spine and "Walt Disney Classics" logo
Link - http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/5 ... AA300_.jpg

(On a side note, I'm so glad they dropped the side swooping borders, it looks so ugly )

Version 2 - Full cover Re-issue (without side border) but still no number

Chicken Little - http://www.disneymovierewards.co.uk/dmr ... 148179.jpg

Meet The Robinsons - http://www.disneymovierewards.co.uk/dmr ... 860783.jpg

This version seems to be the most common as of late.

Version 3 - With Numbered Spines

Chicken Little has also been given a light blue border for some reason despite it being previously re-issued with a full cover (see version 2) and the "Walt Disney Classics" logo has been dropped to simply "Walt Disney".

I know what to look for with those 2 movies but am a little baffled when it comes to The Wild, as there was the original version with side swoop border and no number, then re-issued with full cover but still no number and I've seen these two images with numbered spines, one is a stock photo and the other is the physical copy (not sure if it's real or not as they've brought back the 2007 side swoop )...

Stock Photo - http://www2.disney.co.uk/cms_res/Disney ... ckshot.png

Physical - http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/851/photoimx.jpg/

Hope this has been helpful to some, albeit tedious to read about all these variable versions

So did anyone get Snow White DE from Amazon UK marketplace in the last few months or so? What are my chances of stumbling upon the numbered version with all these sellers:

Help! :(

1) I suggest you ask the sellers directly.
2) Maybe you should look out for the Snow / Tangled pack since that one is sure to be numbered
3) Is a spine worth all that trouble? You can print the cover / make a sticker etc

1. I did, with not much luck. They either ignore the question or say the original edition is the only edition released or they don't even ship to my country. Still waiting on a few responses but I'm not holding my breath.

2. I was under the impression that Snow White/Tangled boxset features just one BD disc for each of the films. Am I right or wrong? Besides, I already own Tangled and selling it seems too much of a hassle (it's still sealed though).

3. In short, yes :P. Any custom addition is a big no-no.

I already have the local 2 BDs + DVD combo. I'd just like the UK version too, since all my other UK Disney BDs have numbered spines and I'm OCD like that.

You are wrong about the SnowWhite/Tangled box set. Both movies are missing the DVD copy but exept for that it includes the same discs. Tangled has 1 BD and SnowWhite has 2 BDs. Here is a video when someone is unboxing it:

Thanks for the info and the video. Is this the only version of the boxset available? I'm asking because product description says, "Number of discs: 2".

To be fair, it wouldn't be the first time Amazon was wrong.

Disney Italy released a DVD collection last year with all of the animated films they consider classics. It looks like they're following the same numbering list as they do in the UK. They've replaced Dinosaur with The Wild and excluded the 2011 Winnie the Pooh.
