Overall, I think it's just becoming a trend to go with single word titles in animated films. I just watched a trailer for Dreamwork's "How To Train Your Dragon" and the announcer repeatedly just referred to it as Dreamwork's "Dragons" although the longer title was on the preview. I could understand not wanting to say the title over and over (since it is kinda long), but to not say it at all? I just thought it was weird.

In this case if they would change the name it would be for the better IMO. I dont like the longer title at all. It sounds weak.

The author of this thread should change the title into "Brave"
*Since I don't usually hang out at this topic, I'll take my time to add what I have to say, so.....*

What?! :(

Since it's being called Brave and the story will be like a Scottish fairy tale, that's definitely a reference to Scottish heritage. Then again, Pixar likes single-word titles anyway. Brave sounds good in a way, but it also sounds simple in another. At least Cars and Up point out what the story is about, but Brave could mean anything.

Well we don't know much about the story yet. If they told us "Up" was the title of the new movie before we knew anything about it, it would seem very vague also. For "Brave" who knows? The story could be specifically about the girl's bravery. As in, it her actual "bravery" plays a role in the story. Like she gets it taken away from her, or something. Just speculating.

Ugh. As of now, I hate the title. But maybe it will grow on me...

Or maybe not. :(

I'm not too bothered, the Bear and the Bow didnt really roll off the tongue anyhway. And Brave isnt a word I would laugh at, like tangled. Bravery is universally seen as a nobel quality to have. Tangled is what your first kiss is like if you had braces.

Both Titles are good. Brave, maybe. The Bear and the Bow sounds like a real classic fairy-tale title, though, and I think they should keep that.

I like the title for the reasons I've stated. It feels Scottish unlike The Bear and the Bow as bears have been extinct in Scotland from between 500BCE-1000CE

Yes it's true. Our Wolves and Lynx are also extinct since 1740CE and 400CE respectively.

(I typed "Brave" into the search box and got this thread, so I guess no one changed the name of the thread yet...? Or is there another thread for the film?)

I love the soundtracks that Phil Collins did, although "My Funny Friend and Me" by Sting is one of my least favorite Disney songs. I think that it's an interesting concept, though.

I think it's a bit more likely that he's writing something for Cars 2.

Yes I totally agree, Most People won't even know "The Bear and the Bow" had a feminine lead. And as for Rapunzel to Tangled - Don't Get me started

Pixar animator Chris Chua noted that Princess Merida (Reese Witherspoon) and her mother, Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson) are prominently represented in the logo here as well (pay special attention to the detail in the lettering).
