I remember you were the one who first told me about the Target disc. I never understood why this film didn't get a surplus of bonus features especially since this was the era that all the big-budget films (POTC, Narnia, the Platinum/Diamond editions) got really expansive Blu-Ray editions.

I can't remember where the footage was shown, but there were some brief clips of the live action footage reference. I would have loved that to have been a whole feature in itself as it was wonderful to see it used !

Some live-action reference footage was seen in the "A New Classic Comes True" Target exclusive making-of.

I wish Ilene Woods and Mary Costa had agreed to cameo. :(
“When I first read the piece, it was a little snarky,” Kevin shared. “I said if you want me to take on this movie, I want to make it a love letter to Disney.” Shrek was a parody of fairy tales and Kevin chose to embrace the medium. It was his idea for Giselle to mirror Snow White by cleaning the apartment and calling the animals to come and help, only to find that rats, pigeons, and cockroaches were the only ones available and making the best of a bad situation. “I just tried at every single turn to look back in some way.”

Jodi Benson (Ariel), Judy Kuhn (Pocahontas), and Paige O’Hara (Belle) all appear in on-screen cameos in the film. “It was great to get them, as many as I could,” Kevin explained. “They were happy to be there and most of them were there for just a day or a half-a-day on their role.” However, there were two princess voices that Kevin Lima really wanted that turned down the offer. At the ball, there are two older women that comment on the spectacle, roles that were intended for Ilene Woods (Cinderella) and Mary Costa (Aurora). Both actresses were retired and didn’t feel up to taking the parts, brief as they were.

^ Wow, that is interesting. I wonder once the movie came out, if they watched it, and if they kind of regretting not participating, or not.

If Enchanted does get a sequel, since there are SO MANY princesses that came out after Enchanted, I wonder if they'd try cameos with Anika, Mandy, Sarah, Idina, Kristen, and/or Auli'i? (Um, and/or Cassie [Raya], & however many "princesses" there will be after that, before the Enchanted sequel (if) comes out.)

Aw, too bad they weren’t interested. But at least they were offered.

@blackcauldron85: I'm sure they'd invite all of them to cameo, possibly even Benson, Kuhn, and O'Hara again, too. So did Lea Salonga not appear in the original either? It would be interesting if Idina Menzel's character has become an evil queen in the animated realm. Sort of the reverse of Menzel's princess character, with Elsa appearing to be a villain to others initially and not being one, her character in Enchanted would have seemed to be good only to turn out to be an antagonist.

Hm. Well, maybe they really were not feeling up to the cameos because, well, when you're old, things can be hard.

Yeah Amy, it would be cool to get the more recent princesses as cameos, too!

OMG, Idina is already my beloved Princess Nancy. I was not thinking when I made that post! Disney's Divinity, I wonder if Disney would make Nancy evil-- that's an interesting plot choice!

Ilene Woods suffered from Alzheimer’s at the end of her life so it is possible that she may not have been well enough to accept the cameo.

I never knew that about her. Alzheimer's or dementia are such horrible ways to have to experience the end of your life. :(

According to the bonus features of the Enchanted blu-ray, they are on the movie...

They are? I know their names are used for the reporter but they themselves aren't in the movie.

I think they are not in the movie, but the bonus features say that those ladies are Mary Costa and Ilene Woods, they even put a picture of Cinderella and Aurora next to each one of them...

(I have a screencap from this moment, but photobucket is blocking it)

That woman who's supposed to be Mary Costa doesn't look like her to me. I can't say for sure if they are in the film or not. I don't see how Disney could f*** up so bad and say they are in the movie in a bonus feature if they are not, but I feel like they probably were really not in it.
