^Thanks for sharing, NeverLand! These character posters are quite good. Could you please post the link? I haven't been able to find them online.

That parrot is channeling Jafar better than the actor.

Thanks. I've also found them on the official Facebook pages for Disney Arabia and Disney Russia.

Ugh, Jafar's staff is hideous. I'm having a difficult time getting used to Will Smith, but the rest of the actors look great. Thank you, Never Land!

I hope we get more footage of Iago because I want to see him in action.

Everything they showed us so far has been great. I'm sure that Jafar will be super awesome in the movie. Villains are usually the highlight in these remakes, and I don't think he will be an exception. And I'd love to see Iago in action, too.

Is it me or was that a subtle jab at Guy Ritchie? Menken was very satisfied with Bill Condon and was singling his praises in the press whereas he's been more reluctant and reserved when talking about Guy Ritchie.
Q: You've been working on the scores for live action remakes of quite a few of the classic Disney films you were involved in. What has that been like, to return to old material within a different medium?

Alan Menken: The main differences are defined by the medium as well as the vision and the agenda of the creative team. And those differences can be exciting and, at the same time, challenging. I am collaborating with new lyricists. We're both revising pre-existing songs and creating new song moments to fit a new director's or writer's approach to story. Sometimes those additions are motivated as much by an external desire to be eligible for recognition as a "new" work as they are motivated by a need to dig deeper into material. Distinguishing between those motivations can be frustrating. But all the hard work inevitably results in a work with greater depth and specificity.

Alan Menken plays a few notes of the beginning of "Speechless" on the piano at the end of this video: https://news.wttw.com/2019/03/28/celebr ... s-musicals

Aladdin is currently long-range tracking for a $85 million three-day opening. I can't help but feel disappointed. I knew it wouldn't beat Beauty and the Beast's record of $174 million but I was hoping it would beat Alice's $116 million opening.

Has anyone heard anything about the soundtrack release date? I'm guessing mid/late May based on Beauty and the Beast but not seeing anything listed anywhere. Beauty and the Beast was announced in December for a March release (track listing wasn't released until much later) but nothing for Aladdin yet.

I feel like they might be trying to keep the fact it’s a musical a bit...well, hidden ? Nothing is really sung in the trailers, just well known instrumentals.

Might be off the mark, but that’s what it feels like to me :?

:? A Whole New World was sung in the theatrical trailer. Didn't you watch it?

Yeah, and a line of Friend Like Me as well. Plus we know there's new songs. Doesn't feel like they're hiding it too much to me. I was amazed we got what sounded like the film version in the trailer rather than the single version like BATB used. Happy though as I can relax about the leads being able to sing now.
