From what I can tell, the line has been popular enough so I'm sure we'll be getting more and more installments over the years. I'm curious though if any potential non-Walt era books will sell as well as the Walt ones so far.

That's great :P I truly adore The Little Mermaid one since there is no decent art book around regarding that subject. I'm still waiting for Mickey Mouse Ultimate history too...

One consolation for a live-action remake of TLM is that we're likely to get a proper Art of/Making of book then. It would be nice, although not necessary, to get a new one for Aladdin as well.

Actually, I don't think Dumbo ever got one so I'd rather we get one for that. I think it's the only Golden Age film which never received some sort of book. At least, Dumbo is next in this new line of books.

My thoughts exactly :-) I must say that it baffles me that so many disney movies remain without a proper making of book. Sure..one is more popular than the other...but still...it goes without saying that minimum effort on their part could still see profit.

Lol, I'd heard that this book was huge, but that picture really conveys its enormity. I can't even imagine setting that upon my lap to read because it would probably crush me. Good luck reading it! Physical burden aside, I'm sure it'll be a joy to rifle through the pages.

Indeed...although I must admit I expected more visually documented then the final result

I love the concept art/retelling books. It might be a little while before I can pick them up, but I definitely will. What's the picture on the inside cover of the TLM book?

I'd be interested to read the history of Mickey even if I wouldn't buy. Those kinds of books are so expensive.

Here is the inside cover picture for TLM book which is used for both the front and back of the book. The piece of art is gorgeous. I can't remember if I've seen it before but the design for Eric's castle is so different here from the final product. It reminds me more of how his palace is described in the fairy tale and I get certain vibes from Rapunzel's castle as well.

I highly recommend these books btw. I have all three released so far (Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid) and definitely plan on picking up Dumbo and Aladdin when they're released. If anybody has any more pic requests, I'll be happy to oblige.

The artwork consists of concept art, animation cels, model sheets, and movie stills. The text tbh is a bit dry. It's straight-forward retellings of the original films but nothing beyond that. I get that the emphasis is on the art, but I would have liked the writing to be more descriptive and tell us more about the characters and settings. Otherwise, it might have been a better idea to publish the final scripts for the text instead since that would be more of a novelty.

Exactly! The text leaves much to be desired! That being set I'm glad to see this is a continuing series. Maybe future editions will feature the lesser known movies.

The pattern right now seems to be making books for their topmost classics/live-action remakes (both of which basically go hand in hand). I'm curious as to if they'll bother for the live-action remakes that will debut on the streaming service. Lady and the Tramp might be a given but I'm not sure if Disney would bother for something like The Sword in the Stone.

That's gorgeous! I love Mondo's Disney artwork. What made you choose Peter Pan over any of their other available Disney works, assuming you had a choice in the matter?
