Nope. Alll of the popular soundtracks are still out there; the only ones you might have some difficulty finding are the obscure ones like The Black Cauldron. But all of the biggies are there, AND they've taken to re-releasing some really old stuff in the past few years at a budget $12 retail (anything from Cinderella and Bambi to Mary Poppins to 101 Dalmatians to Tron and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.)

I don't know about this - I had a hell of a time tracking down a "Dinosaur" soundtrack only a few months after the R1 DVD was released. No B&M stores in England seemed to have it in stock (only as a full price "special order") and most e-tailers were listing it as "out of print" or charging what I thought was too much.

In the end I got it from Amazon.com - but even they had a "ships in 2 - 3 weeks" disclaimer at the time. At least it was cheaper (even with the international shipping!)

A quick look now at Amazon.com shows it's listing "Out of Stock"

What is it with Disney and putting things "out of print" - music, films and books. Do they want to sell stuff or not?
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

music should be a biggie for them to keep in the shops if possible- if people can't find it, it's straight onto p2p software and mp3s

Marketing gimmicks aren't necessary- a good product sells itself.

The original soundtrack CD to Aladdin is now OOP, although you can still get copies of this version on eBay from time to time. You can easily purchase the more "politically-correct" version online anywhere where they sell Disney soundtrack CDs.

In case you're unaware of the what Disney did to the lyrics of the opening song, "Arabian Nights", they changed them for the VHS and LaserDisc releases due to pressure from folks who were offended by the original lyrics. The original lyrics were: "Where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face. It's barbaric, but hey it's home." The new, more "politically-correct" lyrics are: "Where it's flat and immense and the heat is intense, it's barbaric, but hey it's home."

I don't have the catalog numbers in front of me, but if you want the original lyrics, then buy the CD with the cover that looks like this:

If you want the "doctored" lyrics to "Arabian Nights" (but, WHY would you? :)), then buy the CD with the following cover:

I had difficulty finding The Lion King and Simba's Pride soundtracks at the local store after 2000. I found one copy of The Lion King Special Limited Edition Double Pack at Best Buy after 2000. I haven't seen The "Rythem of the Pride Lands" CD since 1995.

I haven't seen the Beauty And The Beast: Special Edition soundtrack in stores either.

Politcal corretctness- wtf. I don't know ANYBODY who'd take offence at that. There's worse stuff in a Brothers Grimm fairytale. Childern are a lot more resilient than some people give them credit for

From what I know, every Disney animated soundtrack is available on CD with the exception of these:

All the anthology films
101 Dalmatians
The Sword in the Stone
Robin Hood
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
The Rescuers (I believe, though, that the songs from this are on the Rescuers Down Under Soundtrack, just not its score)
The Black Cauldron
The Fox and the Hound

You can find songs from these films on the Classic Disney albums, just not their scores or all of their songs.

Disne's offciial website for their line of classic soundtrack reissues lists the following as being available in this "budget line" as I think of it (retail is $12 on all of these.)

A Goofy Movie
The Nightmare Befre Christmas
Mary Poppins
Cinderella
A Bug's Life
The Jungle Book
Beauty and the Beast*
Lady and the Tramp
The Newsies
Sleeping Beauty
Bambi
Alice in Wonderland
Dumbo
Toy Story
Hercules
Oliver & Company
Pocahontas
Aladdin**
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Pinocchio
Peter Pan
Fantasia
James and the Giant Peach
Tron***
The Rescuers Down Under****
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Pete's Dragon
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
101 Dalmatians (animated)
The Happiest Millionare

*This is listed but I know from personal experience that this version (which is a replica of the 1991 CD) is out of print and has been replaced by the Special Edition soundtrack which adds Human Again, demo versions for Be Our Guest and Beauty and the Beast, and an rejected alternate score for the final scene called "Death of the Beast," which now serves as the credits music for the extended credits on the Special Edition cut of the movie after the single version ends.

**This version is the edited version with the censored and politically correct Arrabbian Nights lyrics. I think they also altered a few lines here in there in the other songs just for this CD, too (Friend Like Me leaps to mind) but I can't remember where I heard this. Also, the fart noise in the peddeler's line "Listen, ah, still good," is missing in both discs.

***This includes the bonus tracks"TRONAction" (Original Version), "Break In" (for strings, flutes, and celesta) and "Anthem for Keyboard Solo."

****This includes three "bonus" tracks from the original Rescuers ("The Journey," "Someone's Waiting For You" and "Tomorrow Is Another Day.")

In addition to these, all the more recent soundtracks (Tarzan, Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc. Atlantis, Lilo & Stitch, Treasure Planet, etc.) are still readily available as is the original 1994 Lion King soundtrack (though that will soon go out of print to make way for a speciial edition with The Morning Report added in.)
