The more I read about this film, the more I am convinced that the people who made it (writers, director, etc..) are not fans of Disney and not fans of animation in general. Everything just feels like a big joke to them.

I'm not impressed with what the critics say about the film, and it has been for a while now when I realized that a lot of them are not actual critics, but rather YouTubers or influencers (or Doug Walker/Lindsay Ellis wannabes) that just manage to garner a following and now they say whatever their audience wants to hear in order to not lose them.
Yes you can check them on RT and you will see people like Grace Randolph or that Australian guy this is why the scores on RT have been inflated so much in the last 5 years.

Making controversy out of nothing like this is making it an uphill battle for the return of villains in Disney movies, and that's a shame. I was actually thinking about this same thing a few days back when the lost concept art for The Snow Queen was posted, that Bette Midler's Snow Queen would probably have ended up being called "anti-Semitic" just like Mother Gothel for no other reason than Midler is Jewish. The same way Ursula is "racist" because her dress-like lower half is black.
