Ghost in a Shell would definitely had won 95' Oscar. It was a revolutionary break through concept.
Akira was the other one.
So I don't understand why some wouldn't think they would win.

Well, they nominated "Blame Canada" for a best original song Oscar, so it wouldn't be too out of the question South Park getting a best animated feature nomination. Even the show has won quite a number of Emmy Awards.ajmrowland wrote:Knowing the Academy, more likely than a cow making milk.Flanger-Hanger wrote:

Exactly, and with only 21 reviews counted King and I has a 14% approval rating on RT and a 3/10 rating on IMDB. Almost nobody likes it.estefan wrote:Well, they nominated "Blame Canada" for a best original song Oscar, so it wouldn't be too out of the question South Park getting a best animated feature nomination. South Park has an 80% approval rating with 91 review counted, enough to give it an official "fresh" rating. And as estefan mention, it got an Oscar nomination in a different category anyway.

Would The King and I even get considered in the first place?UmbrellaFish wrote:I agree. South Park would most certainly get a nomination long before The King and I would.
I think that it's otherwise pretty safe to say that the nominations given by Mooky and Duckburger seem pretty accurate (even though I doubt that there'd be any part-animated films in the mix), though I am not to sure about the winners given. Toy Story 2 would have definitely won over The Iron Giant and Cats Don't Dance would not have won against either Hercules or Princess Mononoke. I think that for anything from 1989 to 1999, anything remotely Disney would have most likely won.

Interesting topic, I don't know about the nominees, but these would have been the winners in my opinion:
1989: The Little Mermaid
1990: The Rescuers Down Under
1991: Beauty and the Beast
1992: Aladdin
1993: The Nightmare Before Christmas
1994: The Lion King
1995: Toy Story
1996: The Hunchback of Notre Dame
1997: Princess Mononoke
1998: The Prince of Egypt
1999: The Iron Giant or Toy Story 2
2000: Chicken Run
1989: The Little Mermaid

1991: Beauty and the Beast
1992: Aladdin

1994: The Lion King
1995: Toy Story
1996: The Hunchback of Notre Dame
