Re: Disney's Mort

Guys, I hate to be bearer of bad news, but I wouldn't blame the author Terry Pratchett for somebody else making the film. He was alive when the rights issue flared up with Disney, but he passed away early last year. I assume that the rights were won again by another studio in between the author's pa...

Re: What good thing happened to you today?

Nice to hear things are better, CJ. :) Even though I know I'd have to finally get a full driving license, I've always liked the idea of living in a more woodsy (or more rural) location. Anyway, regarding nice things... Well, the other day, I handed in my MA thesis, or dissertation as one would call ...

Nice! Looks like you had fun! :) And as for recent photos of me and nice things in my life, some of them can be found here. Don't expect followers, but a few likes would be nice. :)

Re: Do you ever reread your own posts from a few years back?

Yeah, I feel the same about my old posts. But I think that's a good thing. It means you grow and evolve as a person. I do from time to time. Some of it was just ludicrous, but I still stand by most of it . At least those posts provide a good chuckle. Those two things I've underlined sum up my views...

Re: Episode 4: A New Hope for Gay UD Threads?

Yeah, it's really awful news. Not something I'd wanted to hear upon waking up on a lazy Sunday morning. And the fact that some people will say it's a sort of karma or divine punishment really makes me angry. :(

Re: Your favourite Disney Animated Classic from the '80s

Of these, The Little Mermaid easily wins. I think The Great Mouse Detective is also a good film, but the three other films are most definitely among Disney's weakest animated features.

Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2016

Not really a fan of those covers. The Alice in Wonderland cover is a real cut and paste job from various covers of the past ten or fifteen years - so much so, it looks like a fan-made Photoshop job. And since when were Dumbo's ears big enough that they could accidentally cause a solar eclipse?

Re: Peter Pan (Live-Action)

I'm going to be unpopular here and say that I think this could work and could be worthwhile, probably more so than a lot of the live-action films Disney has in the pipeline (the Mary Poppins sequel, live-action Dumbo movie, live-action Tinkerbell movie etc.). I know there have been quite a number of...

Re: Tangled TV Series in 2017

....and yet still no hair explanation ???? There will be an explanation for the hair in the show. I'm guessing it will be addressed in the pilot. However, the continuity problem persists. Explaining how Rapunzel's hair grew back in the series, doesn't explain why Rapunzel has short, brown hair in t...

Re: 2016 elections thread

Just a few thoughts from a British perspective. I never thought that Donald Trump was ever a particularly pleasant human being, but now I can't help but see him as evil. He knows how to tap into people's insecurities and has brought out the worst in a lot of people. Nobody who advocates so much prej...

Re: The Walt Disney Signature Collection

Hmm, maybe you're right, abut Alice's colors being right and Cinderella's problems being just DVNR. Not sure though because her dress goes from silver to blue in a few shots and it makes no sense. If the Signature Editions do happen to use some more correct-looking transfers, or for the love of God...

Re: The Walt Disney Signature Collection

I'm going to throw a spanner in the works by saying that I really like the transfer for Alice in Wonderland , though I will admit it surprised me at first. I think it got the right contrast between clear, bright colours, while also keeping a sense of darkness (look at the backlit pictures of Alice p...

Re: One Hundred and One Dalmatians song

I had a 101 Dalmatians Sing-Along cassette and book that was released around the time of the live-action remake, and I remember this song was one of the songs on the set. Whether it was this version or a re-recorded version, I can't remember, but I imagine it was on the particular set as there aren'...

Re: Disney's last politically incorrect movie?

Of course Disney didn't mean to cause offence. In fact, I think the problems with Pocahontas and The Princess and the Frog lie more with trying not to cause offence and to please as many people as possible. As such, historical accuracy may end up being compromised. And as I said, compare Uncle Remus...

Re: Disney's last politically incorrect movie?

There will always be hypersensitive people out there who complains about everything, like Frozen being "too white", no matter how hard you try not to offend anyone. But movies that in hindsight makes you think; this could really not have been done today, is something else. As mentioned, p...

Re: Disney's last politically incorrect movie?

There are definitely many Disney films that can easily be classed as "politically incorrect", from having submissive heroines to containing racial stereotypes. However, the question as to what Disney's "last politically correct" film was is actually difficult one to answer. I can...

I suppose nothing could really top diamond at this point, mineral wise so it works. meh, they should have called it the Zirconia Collection at the rate theyre going with the quality of these releases. How about Uranium Edition? Re: Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs Blu-ray/DVD/Digital HD

There's also a listing on DVD Empire. Is that cover fan made? It looks way too different from what Disney normally gives us. I don't mind it completely but the logo is atrocious. I think it could be fan-made. I can't speak for the Queen, but that clipart of Snow White about to bite into the apple h...

Re: Fantasia: 2-Movie Collection - 11/30/10 (Part 2)

I saw Fantasia on the big screen last year as part of a "Disney Days" promotion carried out by a UK cinema chain. Fantasia is one of my favourite films and I jumped at the chance as I had never seen it on the big screen. It may not have made a difference, but the sing-along version of Froz...

Don't know about anyone else, but is anyone intrigued/bewildered by the Dreamy Handbell CD? Is it an album of handbell renditions of classic Disney songs? :? :shifty:
