What Vanessa song are you guys talking about? I was under the impression that "Silence Is Golden" was an early song meant for the same spot where "Poor Unfortunate Souls" is in the film.

It would seem Pat Carrol's performance of Ursula was largely based on Howard Ashman's performance on the demo tracks and otherwise. It might explain some of the drag queen -like qualities in the character. :) Not that Howard was a drag queen, but he was male (and gay).

And who cares if a drag queen plays Ursula anyways? If parents are afraid of homosexuals, then the last thing they should do is bring their kids to a BROADWAY SHOW....HELLO?!?!?! Oh, that was hilarious. :) I think the reason they've wanted a slim Ursula may only be so that the same actress can play...

Oh, you thought I was talking about those. Nope.

But I'd love to get the "theatrical semi-educational" shorts as well as the Jiminy Cricket "I'm No Fool" etc. cartoons on DVD.

It would seem logical to me to call a cartoon "educational" if it's purpose is to educate the viewers. Mathmagic Land and other Donald and Goofy cartoons from the 60's fit this description. I'm not familiar with other kind of (non-theatrical) educational Disney cartoons, except for the Jim...

I don't understand. Aren't the educational shorts like Donald in Mathmagic Land and Goofy's Freeway Troubles theatrical as well?

1) Does the UK Robin Hood Special Edition have the same widescreen transfer as the US Robin Hood Most Wanted Edition? Well, it's widescreen and it's a new transfer so yes, I think so. 2) Will the upcoming UK Jungle Book Special Edition have the same widescreen transfer as the upcoming US Jungle Boo...

I have a bad feeling about this show. It's doomed to failure. I mean, a female drag queen.. a mute character singing.. it just doesn't make any sense!

I wonder what the excerpt is from Disneyland's "The Great Cat Family" (September 19, 1956). I never saw the episode, but according to Hal Erickson it's about how some people like cats and some don't, with a history of cats and their superstition tie-ins. According to the "next week o...

Would it help if we wrote to Disney and told them how much we love the Treasures series? Probably not.

I am very curious to know what the volumes that were turned down would have been. Not Donald vol4, I hope.

Wasn't that the intent for the original animated character as well? I wonder why they didn't cast a male actor in the role. :)

I got this song right off the LP, which has nothing to do with Disney. It was by Eugene Ormandy conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra (not the one with Leopold Strokowski conducting from "Fantasia"). I think it's safe to assume it's the same Philadelphia Orchestra, even though he conducto...

It'll be very interesting to see what they've come up with for the Oswald set - if it's going to be a 2-disc set I'd say there'd have to be more than just 11, or even 15, Oswald shorts. Miracles...? Don't forget there's The Hand Behind The Mouse , the 90 min documentary on Ub Iwerks (produced by hi...

is there a difference between DAC and disney animated features? im confused..or r classics strictly for pre-CG? i usually go by the features system.so i count chikin litter as the first. Yes, we knew that.

But I wouldn't use the term "inspired by", because Once Upon a Dream uses the Tchaikowsky melody, namely The Sleeping Beauty Waltz (almost) exactly as it was originally witten.

But have you noticed that I Wonder uses the B part of the same waltz as it's melody? :)
