Jodi Benson Addresses LGBTQ Community In New Interview
Here is an interesting interview I found from the website Watermark. In it, Jodi Benson talks about her new book, The Little Mermaid , and its LGBTQ legacy. She talks about why she thinks the movie has resonated so much with the LGBTQ community. This interview is interesting to me because it's the f...

Re: Favorite Disney Princess
I know this is an old thread, but my favorite is Belle. She's an introvert and a bookworm, but she's also not a pushover. She stands up for herself but is also selfless and humble. I find her to be very relatable.

Re: "Top Animated Classics" Poll Needs an Update
I looked up the list I sent in from 2012 and I am so shocked by my choices! Leaving off BATB (and maybe the rest of the Fab 4?) doesn’t surprise me, that was probably strategy to help TLM get first place (hehe), but I can’t believe I have so many Walt-era titles on here! Bambi at #3? Did I really e...

Re: "Top Animated Classics" Poll Needs an Update
https://www.dvdizzy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=29409&hilit=top+20 There was one in 2012 with updated results, including a higher ranking for Hunchback while films like Mulan and Pocahontas finally placed unlike the 2003 one. I know I'd love to see a new countdown because we've had so man...

"Top Animated Classics" Poll Needs an Update
I apologize if this has already been brought up, but it looks like the last "top animated classics" poll was from 2003. Haven't there been more polls since then? I know for sure "Mulan" and "Hunchback" have received a lot more love recently, so I know their rankings wou...

Re: Comparing Home Releases Cover Arts
Regarding Alice in Wonderland , my favorite is definitely the Masterpiece VHS. I remember getting it for Christmas when I was little, and rushing into the living room Christmas morning to see it lying on the chair unwrapped. That said, I always thought it was funny how they depict Alice smiling at t...

Re: Worst Decade for Disney Animation?
Hey, everybody! It's been a while. I'll be honest, I haven't seen the majority of Disney animated movies this decade. Tangled was good (even though I still hate the title to this day). I didn't much care for Frozen or Moana . I'm not a fan of this new trend of being hip and overly cynical tha...

Re: Once Upon A Time (ABC TV Series)
Wow, it's been a while since I've posted on here.
I missed the last episode of the Frozen arc. Is it going to air again on television? Or is there anywhere else I can view it? I don't have a Hulu Plus account nor do I want to create one.

Re: I love how watching a Disney movie's like going back in
Let me tell you, there's nothing like watching a nostalgic Disney flick drunk. A few hours ago, I watched Hercules on Netflix with a couple of new friends while drinking some canned margaritas. It was great fun!

Re: Does Maleficent have hair???
God, I love Batman Returns... Anyway, no, I never thought she had hair because, frankly, I never though of her as a mammal considering she, you know, turns into a freakin' dragon at the end of the film. And there are numerous instances of 'foreshadowing' that transformation in her animation. Her cl...

Does Maleficent have hair???
You think that's just a headdress she has on, or are those horns just a part of her anatomy?
What do you suppose her hair looks like, if she has any?

Re: Anyone who actually likes the Disney sequels?
I don't bother with the sequels anymore. I just see them as a waste of time. I only watched the sequels when I was a kid, and a lot of times it was because I was just trying to hurry up and find a video to rent from Blockbuster before my dad ran out of patience. I remember liking the Aladdin ...

Thinking About Re-Purchasing VHS Tapes
To date, I only have a couple of Disney VHS tapes left over. A few years ago, my parents sold almost all of my VHS tapes to Half-Price Books. Since then, I've bought some Disney DVDs, but they don't hold the same nostalgic value to me as the VHS tapes would. I miss the opening previews and the origi...

Re: Frozen: Part V
It seems that the princesses of the latest three eras have distinct personalities: the Walt-era princesses are graceful and kind, the Renaissance-era princesses are spunky and adventurous, and the modern era princesses are cutesy and klutzy. That's my take on it. I don't think Tiana is cutesy or kl...

Re: Frozen: Part V
Yes, "Frozen" was definitively overhyped. I liked it, I won't say that it ranks upon the early Renaissance films at all. Sure, there were many parts who were juvenile and felt like a kiddie movie, which clashed with the heavier, more serious tone of the scenes with Elsa. Which is the film...

Re: Frozen: Part V
Okay, this post is not going to gain me many friends, but I saw Frozen today, and I was very underwhelmed. Maybe it's because it's been hyped up so much that I went into the theater with high expectations for it (only to have them let down slightly after seeing a preview for some ridiculous toilet h...

Novels Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte The House On Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon ...and the Harry Potter series is very good so far (I just started the fifth book in the series). Re: The Pixar and Disney Theory
Interesting read, but I doubt the premise. It's common for character designs to be recycled in animation, and given that all Disney movies are tied together strictly in the sense that they come from the same franchise, it makes sense to throw in a lot of cameo appearances in their movies, just to ge...
