Re: Tiana (Disney+ Series)
If you're talking about recent series made for Disney+, like most Marvel and Star Wars shows, I'd agree. But Disney does have a history of strong television programming beyond those.

Re: Wish
Avaitor, I mostly agree with you. I think Wish has the potential to gain a following if Asha is inducted into the Disney Princess franchise and remains a part of it. If the franchise pumps out backpacks and dolls of Asha alongside the other Princesses, she’ll remain relevant. Every Princess is some...

Re: Wish
Yeah, I don't see either of these movies gaining big cult followings. They're just not that good, and I don't think anyone who made either Wish or Strange Magic were that passionate about them. And not because they're "woke" like some idiots will want you to believe without describing what...

Re: Disney Legends
I'd like to see the inductions for Joe Rohde, Mark Henn and Steve Ditko the most, but since this is going to be a Honda Center presentation, I don't think I'll make that happen. I'm sticking to the cheaper convention center-only option. Anyway, who wants to bet we'll hear news about Freaky Friday 2 ...

More DMC exclusives added to DMI:
-Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin
-Atlantis: The Lost Empire 2-movie collection
-Return to Neverland
-Beauty and the Beast 30th anniversary edition
-Brother Bear 2-movie collection
Nothing for me this time.

Re: Is the Disney Movie Club worth it?
a couple of formerly exclusive animation releases Interesting.. What exclusive animation releases did you see?? They seem to have all been redeemed by now because I can't spot them :o Well, I know that Jungle Book cover was a DMC exclusive, and I think the 101 Dalmatians and Alice covers also were....

Re: Is the Disney Movie Club worth it?
I've noticed that a couple of DMC exclusive titles have become rewards for Disney Movie Insiders. I've seen a couple of formerly exclusive animation releases, a couple of Herbie movies and the OG Parent Trap on Blu-Ray. I ordered Herbie: Fully Loaded, because that has recently sold out from DMC, and...

Re: Is the Disney Movie Club worth it?
My membership was seemingly onhold for about a year, but I was able to get it back off the ground and accepted Wish as the feature title + finally picked up Strange World. But next, I'm trying to save for one last score of their exclusive titles, which I'd recommend if you can- they're on sale for $...

D23 Down in New Orleans- Celebrating 15 Years of The Princess and the Frog event
This sounds amazing, but I just cannot afford both this AND to go to the D23 Expo this year. If anyone here lives close to NOLA, though, I hope they get the chance to experience this.

Re: Bob Iger is Back!!!
I'm not happy about the news- even though Moana is the last WDAS film I really cared for, turning a TV series into a movie does not sound like a recipe for a strong project- but I understand the desire to focus on successful IPs. And frankly, their last few films just haven't been up to snuff. It's ...

Re: New Disney Merchandise
I agree, ShopDisney sounds much less personal, The Disney Store sounds a lot more inviting. Although I just wish that we could bring back the physical Disney Stores. They weren't the same as they were back in the 90s, but now that I'm not in Orlando anymore, stopping at one of my local ones was the ...

Re: Once Upon a Studio (WDAS Short)
I can't say that I'm too surprised, the Academy hasn't been interested in nominating franchise short subject cartoons in a long time. This isn't the golden age of animation any more, when Tom and Jerry won basically every other year.

Re: Your LOVELY Movie Viewing Log [Édition 2023]
Been wanting to try this thread out for a while, so here's a couple of movies I've watched recently: Toys Probably best known as the movie Robin Williams was upset that Disney outshined attention on for Aladdin, this is a weird one. Part anti-war fable, part practical effects showcase, part Robin Wi...

Re: Pixar's Soul
I feel like there was a moment a while earlier where there was more demand for a wide theatrical release for Soul. That moment I feel has passed. But this may just be coming from me, I found Soul kind of mid tbh. It felt like an unwelcome retread to Pixar's old formula, and I genuinely prefer their ...

Re: Gargoyles (Television Series) Discussion Thread
It is really heartening to see Gargoyles gather such a large cult following in the past few years. I criticize Disney+ often, but I think the show’s availability on the streaming service has done wonders for reminding audiences of its appeal and introducing it to new eyeballs, too. I've really like...

I'm okay with that, I'm still on Blu-Ray and don't currently plan to upgrade to 4K. If I do, I'll probably stick to recent releases and/or favorites and not double dip on movies I'm less into like this.

Re: Oscar for Best Animated Feature 2023
I'm happy for Boy and the Heron, it really is an excellent film. I will say that if you're expecting it to be as whimsical as Spirited Away/Totoro/Howl's Moving Castle, you might be disappointed. Not to say that those don't also have their heavy moments, but it's arguably closer to Princess Mononoke...

I'm still not hot on the film, but I'll get the Blu anyway. I just hope that it isn't another exclusive like Strange World's was, I can't find it at Walmart anymore, just the DVD.

Re: Gargoyles (Television Series) Discussion Thread
I'll try to contribute. Like I mentioned, I never had a chance to read past the second issue of the first SLG series or the first of Bad Guys, and I've read none of the Marvel comics. I considered buying the reprint of the first Marvel issue they did, but decided to hold off for the trade they promi...

Re: Mary Poppins Discussion Thread
RIP to a true legend. The first role I can think of for Glynis Johns besides Mary Poppins (or her other Disney role, The Sword and the Rose) was her playing Diane's mother on Cheers, which I believe was initially offered to Lucille Ball who turned it down despite being a fan. She was quite good ther...
