Chuck (drsd2kill) is absolutely right. The transfer on the new DVD is horrible. I have a Technicolor 16mm of this film and can verify that the 1991 Laser has the closest to the original.

Disney has been doing this to its classic features for years purposely.

Both of those versions suck. You all need to see the Technicolor prints of these films to really appreciate them, and not the prints Michael Eisner ordered to look intentionally dull, which unfortunately is a practice still being used.

Actually, Friz left Disney before the whole Oswald/Mintz/Universal/HarmanIsing breakup. He has said in the past Uncle Walt was quite a verbal abuser so Friz got tired of it and left the studio. He came back to animation when his mentors HarmanIsing set up their own shop with Mintz/Universal. It sho...

As for Song of the South, I think it's painfully ironic this decision was announced after that stupid SNL parody. Actually, the SNL parody aired this past Saturday and this thread was started over a month ago, so while irony can be applied in a number of ways to the situation, this is not one of th...

The line in Peter Pan was "We're off to fight the injuns," nothing about killing. Disney has always been iffy over the entire film's release due to the Indians ever since its reissue in 1989. I don't think it's ever aired completely on the Disney Channel (aside from clips). As for Song of ...

I didn't think it was nearly as funny as Bambi 2002. I do not like the slams against Walt being a racist slimeball at all. This segment is also a reminder of why we're never going to see Song of the South or an uncensored Fantasia put out any time soon. I did laugh out loud at Lion King 5 2/3: Simba...

Two of Walt Disney's childhood friends, and part of his original studio before the infamous break-up with Universal, were Friz Freleng and Rudy Ising, both Jewish. So the anti-Semite stuff is garbage.

They're all just rumors started by insecure people seeking the evil in every person on earth.

Dumbo is one of the greatest things the studio ever did. You can watch the whole thing silent and it still has the same emotional impact.

No movie has more tear-inducing scenes than Dumbo. I question the emotional capacity of one who can say they've never been moved in some way at some point in their life by this film.

My personal favorite has always been Alice in Wonderland, followed very VERY closely by Peter Pan. I am also quite fond of Dumbo and Pinocchio, but the best thing about Alice and Pan are that they're like the best Warner and MGM shorts... You can watch them again and again without worrying about any...

As for the comics - I think the Donald ones were better because of the great Carl Banks, not because Donald was better. That's Barks, but I agree... Of course, Gottfredson's Mickey Mouse comic strip in the 1930s are excellent as well. Barks also worked on the actual Donald Duck shorts (from 1937-19...

I've had Mickey, Donald, and the wartime set ordered at Amazon for quite some time (sorry, but Tomorrowland doesn't interest me in the least, and if I ever do want to buy it, it'll still be around months from now...). Some stores have it cheaper (like the Disney Store), but ordering those three at A...

About 75% of the images posted in these preview threads for the upcoming Disney Treasures DVDs are taken from publicity stills, not the actual cartoons...
