Re: The Sword in the Stone 50th Anniversary Blu-ray and DVD

The screenshots I've seen look terrible even for Lowry. Like some no-talent hack just fed the video through a DVNR filter with the settings cranked until it came out looking like mud.

Not even THEY would screw up that much.

Re: The Jungle Book - diamond edition

But do YOU know that? I don't think anybody *who actually worked on the film* has addressed what the proper ratio should be. Sure, someone at Walt Disney Home Entertainment who wasn't even ALIVE when the movie came out could say "oh, it's meant to be widescreen" and most people would eat ...

Re: The Jungle Book - diamond edition

Because some people are blinded by the leet and think something's wrong if the picture doesn't take all or nearly all of their widescreen TV, just as in the CRT era the same people thought something was wrong if the picture didn't fill their 4:3 radiation box.

Re: The Jungle Book - diamond edition

The Jungle Book was animated to be seen in both aspect ratios - they knew it would be seen more often in 1.37:1 after the initial release, and animated for it. To me, the ideal ratio is the one that shows the most of what was intended to be seen, and the least of what was not; for JB, to me that is ...

Re: The Jungle Book - diamond edition

inb4 they crop to 1.85 and lowry the damn thing.

Seriously, it's NOT a good thing to make it so clean that it looks like it just came out of Toon Boom yesterday! :@

Yeah, I used a later frame to prove that their faces touched because that was one of the specific details. xD

http://i.imgur.com/u9hvq.jpg http://i.imgur.com/2eir8.jpg I'm not sure this did me much good, but here's averaged images of the two shots we used for testing. (I've averaged side 1.) If this technique doesn't work I'm up for trying some avisynth-fu, although I don't even have it installed right now...

That's our goal xD

I'm trying the one method of averaging I know, but I don't know how well it'll work. If not, well, drf and I know a few Avisynth gurus, we'll figure something out.

I've got 5 caps of the back so far, and working on my third of the front.

I gotta figure out a good way to do this averaging stuff... I don't think dropping a bunch of jpegs and running ImageMagick on them's gonna work!

If I can find it and I think it's not obscenely expensive, I'm willing to shell out the cash for it, otherwise, torrent time.

The LD coloring could be my hardware.

Anyway, it's interesting that the two most screwed-up Disney releases are Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King; both got recuts; both had fake OTVs; both were produced by Don Hahn. Coincidence? I'm not betting my money on it.

13.

And what the heck? 3 is definitely too young. I can't think of any 3-year-old that would be able to handle that movie. Okay, yeah. There's no human vs. human violence. It's still too violent for someone that young.

...This from someone who was watching R movies at 9.

Rumors about live-action Sailor Moon movies have flown around the Internet for over a decade now, and come to nothing.

It's almost certain this rumor will also come to nothing.

The tougher it is to crack copy protection, the more likely it is to be cracked, because someone will take it as a CHALLENGE to crack it. This was the case ever since floppy disks on the Apple ][ and Commodore 64 could be copy-protected through all sorts of weird and crazy schemes, I don't think the...

This.

I'm all for taking stuff that's ONLY available drm'd and breaking it and sharing. I'm not so likely to do that with stuff that's easy to get without the drm.

After all a DVD *is* a "digital copy" - and tools that can convert video_ts to mp4 aren't uncommon.

Great Mouse Detective wasn't CAPS. Not until Rescuers Down Under 4 years later were they using CAPS, apart from a couple shots in Mermaid.
