Re: Disney (Kind of) Brings Back Laserdisc

This is quite neat! I love big, beautiful artwork, it's what sparked my small obsession with Laserdisc when I was a teenager. The price point is a bit high for catalog titles, but I suppose one day if I have some extra money and feel like double dipping (or triple dipping in the case of TFA) I could...

It's a shame to see you go, Laz. I'll miss your posts, they added a spark to most discussions, and I'm glad I'll be able to read your posts on FB. Hopefully, something can be worked out in the future and we can see you return to the forum.

I remember reading rumors back in '06 that they were trying to make JP4 with JJ Abrams at the helm. I doubt that will happen now, but I suppose a fourth installment with a different director is a possibility. Still, please don't wait for that to happen before you put a trilogy on BD, Universal! Thes...

Meh. That's really all I have to say about this - Meh. Aside from playing the nostalgia factor, The Flintstones was never anything amazing in my eyes, and Animated TV comedies as a whole do nothing for me. I don't care for Family Guy, American Dad or any of the other Fox animations, The Simpsons hav...

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - I saw the movie on Saturday. <snip> The 3D was okay, considering it wasnt shot 3D I'm actually 100% positive it was shot in 3D, but you're right, it was decent. Honestly, the IMAX 3D presentation of Thor was much better, and that was a conversion.

^I felt Deniro had a good film in Stardust. Not a great one, but not a bad one. The King's Speech -it deserves it's critical acclaim. The cast overall was quite excellent. Naturally, Collin Farrell , Helena Bonham Carter, Geoffrey Rush, and Timothy Spall all did excellent turns. The art direction w...

My main interests are in Thor, Pirates, and Kung Fu Panda 2. I also voted for Other, because I'd like to see Hesher if it opens in my area. I have minor interest in Priest and Something Borrowed, but I didn't vote on those because they're more like "rainy day" movies than ones I'm actually...

Just a quick blip - According to MovieTickets.com, the film's runtime is 2 hours 17 minutes. They're usually pretty accurate (they hit TRON Legacy dead on when tickets went on sale last November), so I'll bet the final runtime will be 137 Minutes, with a 5 minute margin of error. Sounds good to me! ...

No. And while you are out it, I'd love to see tobacco smoking as well as alcohol outlawed. I supported prohibition and am sad that it was abolished. I know many say it didn't work, but the reality is that the only reason the US government got rid of it was to make money and make up some debts, NOT ...

Watching both films back to back, I can officially declare (in my own opinion, of course ;) ) that Legacy is an excellent sequel to TRON. Both films have their flaws in the script department; TRON truly excels in the digital world while it has some struggles in the real world, while Legacy finds an ...

I saw the film in Digital 3D in theaters, and it was presented in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. The decision to release the DVD and Blu-ray in open matte 1.78:1 aspect ratio is rather curious, at least to me. Part of me is just relieved that it's not being cropped, and we are getting a fuller image, but the ...

Waterworld immediately springs to mind - huge budget, minimal return, cheesy film. Pluto Nash is another good example, or the oft forgotten "comedy", Ishtar . Definitely not Cutthroat Island , that's one of my favorite guilty pleasures. Love Matthew Modine and Geena Davis in that one. It ...
