Oh that's right, I forgot about that one. So there ARE 2D animated films coming up this year for us to support. The more films like this succeed, the better our chances of reviving 2D animation.

Re: Oscar for Best Animated Feature 2023
Bruh, the first sentence sound so passive-aggressive and creepy coming from you, PatchofBlue , hehe  But I do agree with your last paragraph, The Boy and the Heron winning doesn't really mean the whole animation industry will have a major shift in doing hand-drawn animation again. It happened ...

Re: Hand-Drawn Animation Dead at Disney
At this point your best option is to keep an eye open for whatever 2D animated films come our way, regardless of who is releasing them to keep it alive. (I do agree Disney needs new leadership in order for 2D animation to truly return; I honestly am pretty underwhelmed by their WDAS output coming up...

Re: Hand-Drawn Animation Dead at Disney
Very interesting that the Bancrofts are making an all new animated feature. Count me in to see it when it hits theaters. Also, bravo to the success of The Boy and the Heron . Not only does it show that there is still an audience for 2D animation, it should be an indicator that it was wrong to ever a...

Re: Once Upon a Studio (WDAS Short)
I have to agree wholeheartedly on this short. It is indeed amazing. It succeeds far better than what Wish tried to do and didn't quite succeed at unfortunately. It's a lovely tribute to Disney. The fact that Disney recently trained 2D animators gives me hope that we'll see more of this kind of anima...

Re: Disney Fatigue?
JT, please, for goodness sake’s, don’t take the word of Rotten Tomatoes’ critics for it. It’s the same site that gave trash like Cuties a certified fresh rating. Granted, I haven’t seen Cuties, but if what people who aren’t RT critics have said about it is true, then it must be pretty bad. With tha...

Re: Disney Fatigue?
I personally think Disney is in serious need of new leadership. People who believe in creativity and not playing it safe. Wish was the only one I was really looking forward to seeing from them this year, and the mixed reviews have made it less than promising. I'll still go just to see how I feel abo...

Re: Wish
The RT score is now at 55%. I thought the score would go higher as more reviews comes in, but it just keeps going down. This one is definitely getting mixed reactions from critics. Audience response seems to be more favorable, though, but we'll see. It could go either way. Although from what I am s...

Re: Wish
I’m so damn tired of seeing people knocking Wish’s animation style. It’s always “It looks half-finished, this” and “It doesn’t look fully rendered, that.” Good grief, people are complete hypocrites. They praise Dreamworks and Sony to the high heavens when they do stylized CGI-animated films, but wh...

Re: Wish
Agreed. The review score is not promising. Then again, critical reaction doesn't seem to indicate financial success. Case in point: The Super Mario Bros Movie , which got mixed reviews, just like Wish did. It turned out to be a major smash hit. Elemental , same situation. It started off weak, then g...

Re: Hand-Drawn Animation Dead at Disney
Aaron Blaise has released a new hand drawn short entirely produced on Procreate Dreams, an animation tool exclusive to iPad. The short is quite well done I’d say. https://youtu.be/VJKEhmQoKGw?si=kAxBsSLOlArcOoGH I use the existing Procreate software for illustrating and it’s amazing to see what thi...

Re: Wish
I really don't understand how people think that Disney is not going to market this one. It seems bizarre. IIRC, someone did claim on Twitter that a new trailer is in production, but we don't know when. Either way, this angsting about the film's marketing and potential bombing (I doubt it will) is pr...

Unpacking Bob Iger’s Terrible, Horrible, No Good PR Week https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/unpacking-bob-igers-bad-pr-week-1235544279/ YIkes, it sounds awful. I really don't like how Iger is handling all this. The news about the strike ongoing is even more disheartening. It's...

I too doubt there will be a delay. What I'm more concerned about is if there will be a Blu-Ray release. I just received word today that Disney is ceasing physical media releases in Australia. That and the sudden decision to can Disney Movie Club in Canada has me concerned. What if Wish doesn't get ...

Re: Once Upon a Studio (WDAS Short)
I can't think of an example where it wasn't, yeah. Thank you, that's good to know! Looking forward to it. :) More like "IF" there's a Blu-Ray release of Wish. The recent report I heard of them halting physical media releases in Australia is worrying to me. I fear Wish might not get one. B...

Re: Elemental
So this thing is developing some crazy good legs at the Box Office. It’s passed $300 million and if the drops continue like this it will pass $500 million or close to that range. I guess between this and Puss in Boots 2 people are just a bit more reluctant with animated features post pandemic? Good...

Re: Studio Ghibli Films
I'll say. As someone who loves this studio's works, I eagerly await the release of this film here in America. I do think the title change is eccentric, though.
