Re: LGBT Disney
It takes some pretty strong mental gymnastics to convince oneself that a bill called Don't Say Gay won't negatively impact queer children. We're already a marginalized group, but then not even having the opportunity to discuss our existence in the classroom very obviously stems from hate. It's actua...

Re: Thoughts About DVDizzy Forum Being Discussed Elsewhere?
Thank you, I am aware about the ignore option, but I meant that I don't want them to see my posts as well as not wanting to see their posts, and there's no such option. Nice to know you're also there, added you to my friends list :) Oh, I completely misunderstood. Sorry! :smack: Yeah, I guess they'...

Re: Thoughts About DVDizzy Forum Being Discussed Elsewhere?
Did that person stop following you around there? :( No, unfortunately, and I can't really do anything about it other than avoiding them as much as I can. I really wish there was a block option in forums as well as the option to ignore. I'm also on Blu-ray.com and you can definitely add someone to y...

Re: Raya and the Last Dragon
Lindsay Ellis quits YouTube months after igniting controversy with a tweet comparing 'Raya' to 'Avatar' https://news.yahoo.com/lindsay-ellis-quits-youtube-months-233703211.html Damn, she's one of my favorite YouTubers. And her comparison is actually quite accurate. Cancel culture's the worst, huh?
Re: Eternals
I just finished watching this and actually liked it for the most part and find it better than a lot of the other Marvel films I've seen. I'm as shocked as everyone else about it. I think it tried to be more than just another comic book action film, and while it gets kinda sloppy on the execution, th...

Greta Gerwig as a cowriter? Okay, I'm now slightly interested in this.

Re: West Side Story (2021)
^ I agree with all of these points. What I didn't like: - Ansel Elgort. To be fair, Tony isn't really an interesting character, but he just felt incredibly bland when compared to everyone else. Also his backstory didn't feel strong enough to merit its inclusion. I never needed to know why Tony wasn’...

Re: Encanto
Their story is driven by the message, instead of having the message coming from the story or the characters. This is a major occurrence across all media. This is why I don't like most contemporary Broadway musicals or pop songs or general fiction by young debut authors or cinema. The message or the...

Re: Encanto
I just finished watching this and thought it was nice. Nothing extraordinary, but I don't feel like I wasted my time with it. The animation is beautiful of course and I enjoyed that it has a much more intimate conflict (no chasing dragons or fighting evil or saving China etc.). My biggest disappoint...

Re: West Side Story (2021)
Some things I liked: - Ariana DeBose and Rachel Zegler. Easily the best acting and voices for me. Definitely the standouts. "America" and "A Boy Like That/I Have a Love" have always been my favorite songs and I feel like these were done very well vocally. - Mike Faist. Never supe...

Re: West Side Story (2021)
I saw this last night with a friend and neither of us was particularly impressed. We actually both thought it was fairly boring. I'll stick with the 1961 film.

Re: West Side Story (2021)
I've listened to a lot of the soundtrack and I'm actually pleasantly surprised. The vocals range from not too shabby to pretty great and the orchestrations are superb. Hopefully the rest of the film looks as good as the soundtrack sounds. Though I have heard about some excessive lens flares and that...

Re: West Side Story (2021)
I've always enjoyed the all-girls version of "America" more than the version from the first film. And knowing that this new film was going to lean more toward the original show, I was hoping we'd get an all-girls version instead. But oh well. I'm still excited for this.

Really intrigued by a Joe Wright musical. I'm not familiar with the off-Broadway show or Cyrano de Bergerac for that matter, but this looks at least to be competently made and I'm definitely interested in it. And it sure looks better than the recent unmitigated disasters of Cinderella and Dear Evan ...

It's more likely just production issues, which has been happening across all types of media recently.Sicoe Vlad wrote:So, on the Disney Music Emporium website, it now says it will be released on October 1. Does this mean they will fix the missing score on the And He Shall Smite the Wicked track?

Re: West Side Story (2021)
With the mediocre In the Heights , the god-awful Cinderella , and the very poor reviews for Dear Evan Hansen , I am seriously hoping that West Side Story will get us out of the bad-musical slump of 2021. (Though I do still need to see Respect and Annette , the latter of which at least sounds creativ...

Re: Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cinderella
I listened to Act I of this earlier in the week and I can't say I enjoyed it all that much. Some of the lyrics are cringey, and when Cinderella sang, "I want to be hot," I decided that I don't really need to hear the rest of it. I'll stick with the Disney, R&H, and Sondheim versions to...

Re: Turning Red
I think the trailer looks cute. I wouldn't say I'm necessarily excited for it, but it does pique my interest. I'm not sold on "Larger Than Life," though. I guess it's just meant to be a callback, but that song came out in 1999. I'm sure there were songs from 2002/2003 that fit a similar to...
