Re: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Saw this tonight, and it was an absolute delight. This is definitely my favorite Spider-Man film to date. It was just super fun, with lots of humorous moments, nods, and winks, but I appreciated that it knew when to play it straight, giving proper emotional weight where it was due. It was a classic ...

Re: Avengers: Endgame

It's a title that some fans have speculated... I didn't think it would be the actual title. I don't like it either.

But Infinity War is a top 5 MCU movie for me and my favorite Avengers film, so I'm really looking forward to this!

Re: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

This looks amazing. We need more mainstream CGI films that really experiment stylistically like this.

Re: Oscar for Best Animated Feature 2018

I saw Mirai last night. I thought it was a welcome return to form for Hosoda after The Boy and the Beast , which I found disappointing. Surprised to learn that this is the first anime film to be nominated in the category. Perhaps GKIDS nabbing it this time helped... I feel like it would have been pa...

Re: Disney & Jennifer Lee to Adapt "A Wrinkle in Time"

The reviews are coming in and they're generally not good. Unfortunate, because I was really liking the trailers and clips I've been seeing. That said, while I've not been much of a fan of most of Disney's live-action (and "live-action") output as of late as a whole, one of the ones I reall...

Re: Pixar's Coco

As a hardcore Sufjan Stevens fan, I was kinda hoping Mystery of Love would win for Best Song, though I knew Coco would probably take it.

Re: Marvel's "Black Panther"

I saw this tonight, and aside from a few moments of subpar CG work and obvious green screen, I thought everything was top notch. There was so much hype that I was a little afraid I'd be disappointed when I actually saw it, but I'm happy to say I was engaged from beginning to end. I'd have to see it ...

Re: Marvel's "Black Panther"

I think I read the Facebook group thing was actually DC fan group, that wants to tank all Marvel films going forward, but I think we'd be kidding ourselves if we thought it was a coincidence that this is the first film they come out and target. I mean, I know the whole DC vs Marvel fan wars often go...

Re: Oscar for Best Animated Feature 2017

I've been out of the loop a bit, I had no idea about the rule change! I was kinda baffled by the list of nominees, but this explains it. Ewe.

I somehow haven't seen this yet.... Hoping to still manage to see it in theaters (it's still playing in a couple places near me).

Re: Disney & Jennifer Lee to Adapt "A Wrinkle in Time"

I've never read the book (despite having owned a copy at one point), but I've been loving what I've seen from the trailers. I really haven't been too fond of any of Disney's recent live-action fantasy films (including the live-action 'remakes' of their animated films), but this is probably the first...

Re: Marvel's "Black Panther"

I'm surprised this thread hasn't had any activity for almost two years.... I know the Marvel threads don't get that much traffic, but still. Anyway, the Rotten Tomatoes score is at 98% right now with a very high average rating. It might still go down a bit in the coming weeks, but this will probably...

Re: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy

Saw this Sunday night, and I was really happy with it. I'm thinking it's probably my third favorite film in the MCU, after The Winter Soldier and Civil War, which are #1 and 2 for me, respectively. It was definitely a very character driven film, and I thought they did a really great job at fleshing ...

Re: May Releases

I caught GOTG Vol. 2 during opening weekend, which I was really happy with. I'm thinking it's probably my third favorite film in the MCU, after The Winter Soldier and Civil War . Other than that, probably nothing for me this month. I'll probably eventually catch Pirates , but I've honestly only ever...

Re: November Movies

I'll just say SPOILERS follow: I liked the way Newt was played as well, though I felt it was difficult to understand what he was saying at times. I wouldn't say he was quite unintelligible, but if I see it again, I might play it with subtitles. But it was definitely great to see the lead chara...

Re: November Movies

There wasn't really a thread for this, so I'm just jotting down some thoughts here.... I finally watched Fantastic Beasts . Overall, it was a decent, entertaining film. Nothing exceptional, but it got me looking forward to what's to come in the series. It was a little slow in the beginning, with wha...

Re: Wreck-It Ralph 2

I'm not a huge fan of the title either. I know "breaking the Internet" is a phrase that is actually used, but if they were going in that direction, I think Ralph Wrecks The Internet would have been a better title. And then maybe they wouldn't have needed the subtitle either? Whatever thoug...

Re: Disney Books in 2013-2017

I nearly got it when it was around $87 a few weeks back but the price has been dropping so drastically that I decided to wait it out and see if it gets even lower. It has dropped almost another $2 since my post... so I think I will wait it out a bit too. I'm just afraid that it's suddenly gonna jum...
