Disney Princess: Palace Pets

Disney is launching this year a franchise called "Palace Pets" which is a Disney Princess spin-off. Disney registered various domain names for this line in January. The line features the pets of the Disney princess aiming to combine the appeal of cute animals with the brand recognition of the Disney Princess line. An app has already been released while toys and other merchandise will start appearing in stores in July. There will be a TV campaign in August to promote the line.

This is not the first time the Disney princesses have been depicted alongside their animal friends and sidekicks but it's the first time Disney is devoting a whole line around them. Oddly enough, these pets are not based on the animal sidekicks featured in the princesses' respective films but have been designed specifically for this line and made to look similar to their owners. You can learn more about the line in this video taken at the 'Time to Play' spring showcase.

Currently the line includes the following pets:

• Berry (Snow White's bunny)

• Pumpkin (Cinderella's puppy)

• Beauty (Aurora's kitten)

• Treasure (Ariel's kitten)

• Teacup (Belle's puppy)

• Sultan (Jasmine's tiger)

• Blossom (Mulan's panda)

• Blondie (Rapunzel's pony)

Rapunzel doesn't need a pony. Maximus would lend himself to her.

I like the panda most of the pets but it looks like a raccoon thanks to the bushy tail.

Hey!! I designed most of those pets for this new exciting toys line!! ;)
I worked as a freelance artist to help the Disney consumer products' team assigned on this franchise.
So I guess we were several artists whom artworks were mixed to bring this together until the final product design.
It was fun to work on as I did first several test drawings, then I designed the eyes, eyelashes fur/hair and expressions which I can recognize easily on some of them (Pumpkin, Blossom especially etc...).
I will post on my websites/blogs/FB pages what I did when I'll get the greenlight, probably after those toys will be released... ;)

Nice to know that you worked on this property, Prince Kido. I'd love to see your original drawings.

Do you know whether Jasmine, Pocahontas, Tiana and Merida will also get their own pet?

Congratulations! They are adorable!

But I would like to know if the other princesses have a pet, too?

Just not me cup of tea, but nice to know that someone from here helped design these. :)

I bet Ariel has to tell her cat that fish are friends not food

The marks on their hind legs are too close to copying My Little Pony, in my opinion.

No offense to Kido but these are just stupid. Especially to the princesses who already have a freakin pet.

Belle has a horse
Rapunzel has a chameleon
Though no Jasmine yet, she has a goddamn tiger.
etc.

I also dislike the designs of these "pets" as they look like pampered glamor and prissy pieces of shit. their faces make me want to punch it in the face too. Kinda like Paris Hilton and her pet "rats".

I remember now Prince Kido made artwork for some Disney merch. Pretty cool job. :)

I think they're too close to copying Littlest Pet Shop from the 90's which placed a paw print somewhere on a pet's skin if it wasn't wearing a collar which has a paw print on the tag.

In case anyone is wondering, Bruno died and Pumpkin is his replacement.

Horrible. Simply horrible. Can this franchise get any more shallow and far away from the princesses as they appear in the movies?

Excuse my ranting, but WHAT MAD OF MONSTROSITY IS THIS?!

I know I'm not suppose to use that emotioncon, but I feel insulted right now.

Don't get me wrong, I love Prince Kido's artwork. He's an amazing artist, and draws fantastically. I always love his Rapunzel, Esmeralda, and Kida drawings. But this I find something way beneath him even though I understand its a job he has to do and earn money for. Again no offense to you Kido.
