This is really disappointing to me, as this was one of those "Disney" films right from my youth and that I related most to because the lead was a boy around my age. Well, a little older, I guess, as I think I was only 10 or 11. I really saw it as the beginning of the new, modern Disney at the time, and I just loved the movie itself. Even if aspects of it seem a little cheesy when I watch it today.
I hate all this stuff of Disney releasing films they didn't produce, with the exception of the Miyazaki and PIXAR stuff, because those are usually masterpieces, and I'm just happy someone is releasing them. It mainly bugs me because, with all the complaints people make of what Walt would and wouldn't do or did or didn't believe in, and all the quotes they take out of context to back up there arguments, I could swear I very clearly heard or read of him stating that he never wanted the company to release anything they didn't make themselves. Now, of course, it wouldn't bother me if they just wouldn't put the Disney name over the top. Make up some new division for that which doesn't use the Disney name, and then it won't bother me, because the bottom line is, it's not Disney, and so many inferior products are getting the Disney name stamped on them these days.
It's all sorta like, imagine if your significant other had a twin sibling. One day, they switched places without you knowing. You spent all day with the sibling, you even made love to them, and when all was said and done, yeah, you had a great time with them. Then, you find out it wasn't your significant other the whole time. It doesn't matter how great a time you had, you're going to feel somewhat betrayed...
