I know that some of the Alice Comedies from the '20's were issued on the Disney Rarities and Oswald Treasure sets. But I was wondering if any of the Alice shorts not issued on those sets are available anywhere else, either DVD or legal downloads? If there are, what is their quality like compared to the one's on the Treasures sets? Thanks for any help.

Inkwell images ink's Alice in Cartoonland and VCI's Alice in Cartoonland DVDs have the rest of the rest of the Alice Comedies (excluding Alice's Little Parade)that are available on DVD. Alice's Little Parade is available on an out of print Japanese DVD set called I Love Cartoon.

I recommend Inkwell Images ink's work very highly. They don't just slap a bunch of cartoons on the DVD they actually build an educational program around the cartoons. I don't have the VCI disc but I've seen its gotten good reviews on Amazon. But be warned its been DVNRed.

If you like the Alice Comedies I highly recommend you also get the Inkwell images ink's Max Fleischer's Famous OUT OF THE INKWELL DVD.

I would have to agree actually, the Inkwell release is the best. I should also point out, being as these shorts are in the public domain, this release is fully legal. I wish Disney would release the cartoons that said as I imagine they (hopefully) would look even better, but beggars can't be choosers.

Thanks for the help everyone. I was searching on the Inkwell DVD and also found a guy named Tom Stathes selling four volumes of the Alice Comedies. In addition to the cartoons between the Disney and Inkwll releases, it looks like it contains a number for shorts that aren't on either set. Heres a link to his site (the Disney section is a little over half way down the page):

http://cartoonsonfilm.com/dvd.html

I was wondering if anyone ever heard of this guy or these releases? If so, would you recommend them or getting the Inkwell release?

Thanks again for any help.

I found a review comparing the Inkwell disc to the VCI disc.
