This week the Top Ten tackle the music of Billy Joel. This is going to hard for the girls, and just a little easier for the guys.

It all starts Wednesday night (Mar. 21) at 8 pm eastern, 7 central.

On Thursday's results show one of last year's top talents, Haley Reinhart will one of the special guests.

Last night's show was like a roller coaster ride, there were ups and down and lots of sharp turns. The challenge was the music of Billy Joel and the Top Ten had the mentoring of Tommy Hilfiger, who was in charge of dressing them up to fit the part, Jimmy Iovine, resident song specialist, along with Sean "Diddy" Combs.

First up, DeAndre Brackensick, who opened the show with a rousing version of "Only The Good Die Young". Personally, I don't care for this kid. I don't like the hair, it is so 80's and so out of style today, and his voice just isn't strong enough to do uptempo songs like this particular choice.

Erika Van Pelt got into a "New York State of Mind" and wowed the judges with her vocal. Randy said she shouldn't be afraid of taking a song like this and adding something to make it her own. Erika defied Tommy Helfiger's recommendations and did not wear the bell bottom pants and short jacket and wore a beautiful evening gown. But, Erika did cut her hair and color it, and looked amazing.

Joshua Ledet confessed he never listened to a Billy Joel song before and he took "She's Got A Way" and made it his own. Perfect song and perfect delivery.

Skylar Laine took the stage with her version of "Shameless" and wowed the audience and received a standing ovation from the judges.

Elise Testone picked the song "Vienna" and nailed it. Receiving top scores from the judges, with Randy using his familiar phrase "She's in it to win it!"

Phillip Phillips was told by Tommy Helfiger to quit wearing gray and get out from behind the guitar. Jimmy and Diddy said the same thing about his hiding behind the guitar, but Phillip showed them all, he wore two shades of gray, and strapped on his guitar and belted out "Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)" to a rousing standing ovation. Personally I think that Phillip is a standout this season and hope he gets in to the top five.

Hollie Cavanaugh was another of the contestants who didn't pay much attention to Tommy Helfiger, and came out and stopped the show with her version of "Honesty".

Heejun Han tried, in vain, to do an uptempo song, Joel's "My Life", and was resoundly criticized by the judges for his choice of song.

Jessica Sanchez proved again why she is the favorite to become this year's American Idol with her version of "Everyone Has A Dream". Jessica received a standing ovation from the audience and the judges. I really like her, and hope she can continue doing what she does. I like her a lot as a future American Idol.

Colton Dixon got back on the piano and became the "Piano Man" to raves from the judges and standing ovation from the audience. Colton is the dark horse in this whole thing.

My pick to go home this week is Heejun Han. No doubt that he gave the worst performance of the evening.

Tonight's Results Show will feature last year's second runner-up Haley Reinhart debuting her new single "Free".

What a night last night on the American Idol Results show as we lost one of the girls - Erika Van Pelt. I, along with a lot of other Idol followers was very shocked. But it just shows that if you don't vote, then someone goes home that you might have voted for.

Hayley Reinhart was absolutely terrific as she debuted her new single "Free" from her album that has an early May release. She looked great and sounded better than ever.

Don't remember the name of the other female that was on for entertainment, but she was horrible. Looked like she was totally frightened and her voice cracked several times and when it was all over, she looked like she was ready to faint right there on live television.

We are now down to Nine Finalists, and they all get to move into the Mansion for the rest of season.

I'm mad Erika is gone. Heejun and DeAndre should have atleast left before her but atleast she's on tour. Those 2 better be the next to go.

Thank you Jay!! Heejun and DeAndre are the two weakest of the male vocalists, and Erika Van Pelt was one of the better performances of the night.

But remember, it is the viewers who vote that keep the contestant on, and DeAndre appeals to the 'tweeny-boppers' and Heejun has a large Asian community that votes like crazy. We need to get everyone to vote next week and hope that DeAndre or Heejun go, but since they are voting only one off a week, we will have to suffer for another two weeks with one of them.

The Top Nine take the stage this Wednesday for your votes. The Thursday night Results show will feature Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery. This will be a good week for American Idol.

Yeah I hope Heejun goes this week he's been fun but he hasn't had a single good performance since the live shows started. Unless he does really well this week he should be the one to go. The DeAndre next week.

It was a 'wild and crazy' night for the Top Nine last night on "American Idol". We heard each one bare their soul, rock their socks, and sing their heart out as they competed to NOT be the one going home tonight on the Results Show.

The theme of the night was - Our Idols Take On Their Idols - and the guest mentor was Stevie Nicks.

Colton Dixon lead off the competition with his rendition of Lighthouse's "Everything" and wore his emotions on his sleeve and brought tears to the eyes of some in the audience and to judge Jennifer Lopez. Randy said that this performance showed us that Colton was "in it to win it"!! In my opinion, I don't think he has potential to get to the Final Four.

Skylar Laine brought the audience to their feeet with her performance of Miranda Lambert's "Gunpowder and Lead". She was all over the stage, and got rave reviews from all three judges. Personally, I really like Skylar, but the last time I liked someone they were sent home.

Heejun Han found himself again and provided one of the best moments of the night with his rendition of Donnie Hathaway's "A Song For You". It was his best performance of the season in my eyes, but I don't think it was good enough to keep him out of the bottom three.

Hollie Cavanagh brought back the spirit of Carrie Underwood when she performed "Jesus Take The Wheel" and gave Jennifer 'goosies' again. This young lady can sing the phone book and make it sound great.

DeAndre Brackensick got raves from the judges as he sang Eric Benet's "Sometimes I Cry". Personally, I don't think this kid anythng going for him except he has this crazy hair and he is "cute" as a button. The 'tween-age' girls are voting for him for sure, regardless of talent.

Jessica Sanchez showed us why she is this year's "Idol" with her version of Beyonce's "Sweet Dreams". A standing ovation was given to her by all, audience and judges alike, and all the reviews were stellar and positive.

Phillip Phillips brought his unique style to Jonny Lang's "Still Raining" and showed why he is a definite threat to get to the Final Four.

Joshua Ledet took on Mariah Carey's "Without You", a Harry Nillson song that was a challenge for anyone who would sing it, and got a standing ovation from the judges. Randy said the 'bar was just raised' and Joshua is standing under it.

Elise Testone brought the house down with her show-stopping rendition of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love". Bringing the judges and the audience to their feet once again with one of the best performances of the night. I personally think that this young lady is going to give Jessica a run for the title.

Highlighting the show was three trios put together by the producers singing a medley of hits. First up was Colton, Elise and Phillip doing a Fleetwood Mack medley of songs.

The second Trio was DeAndre, Heejun, and Joshua cruising throught Michael Jackson songs.

The third Trio was Hollie, Jessica, and Skylar with, in my eyes, the best medley ever as they took on the songs of Madonna.

My pick for the bottom three tonight are Heejun, DeAndre and Hollie. I hope DeAndre gets this axe, but it will probably be Heejun.

The Results Show tonight is highlighted by a return of Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery, fresh off his tour with Brad Paisley, and Nicky Minaj gracing the 'Idol' stage. Looks to be a great night.

Well, last nght on the American Idol Results Show the American television viewers got it all wrong again!!! However, at the same time they got it all right! The bottom three were Skylar, Hollie, and Heejun, with Heejun being sent home.

I can't impress enough on those of us who watch this show, how important it is to vote. Especially when we still have this year's "Sanjiya" in DeAndre Brackensick still on the show. The 'tweeny-boppers' are using their votes for this guy because "he's so cute and I like his hair"!!! DeAndre, and this is just my opinion, is a one-hit wonder and has already been exposed to the American public for too long. He doesn't stand a chance against his female competitors, or even his male counterparts. He is not as good as Joshua, or even close to Phillip Phillips. I hope we can all get together and vote this 'eyesore' off American Idol soon.

We are down to Eight, and the clock is ticking for those who can't quite make the cut.

Tonight, on "American Idol" the Top Eight get to chose their songs from the music of the 80's. This should be a real good show, as 80's music will fit most of them like a glove.

Looking forward to seeing the choices of music from Jessica Sanchez and Skylar Laine. These two girls are at the top of my list of who could become the next "Idol".

The songs the Top Eight will be doing tonight have been sneaked out, and here they are. Remember all the songs are from the 80's:

That's All - Genesis
Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper
Wind Beneath My Wings - Bette Midler
Flashdance...Oh, What A Feeling - Irene Cara
If You Don't Know Me By Now - Simply Red
I Like It - DeBarge
How Will I Know - Whitney Houston
I Want To Know What Love Is - Foreigner

Also on tap for tonight's 2-hour show will be four duets. Looks to be a good night, if the right person chooses the right song.

After last night's Top 8 finished I was glad that I wasn't one of the judges. What a great show, and all eight of the 'Idol' contestants were amazing in their presentation of "Song of the 80's". I wish I had unlimited voting ability and could figure out a way to make all eight of them tied for first and then we have a do-over next week.

Highlighting the show were four duets, the best of which, in my opinion was Jessica and Joshua doing the Aretha Franklin/George Michael song, "I Knew You Were Waiting For Me".

Colton Dixon and Skylar Laine lead off with their duet on the Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton tune, "Islands In The Stream", written by Barry Gibb.

DeAndre and Hollie tackled The Pointer Sisters' "I'm So Excited", while Elise and Phillip did a rousing version of the Tom Petty/Stevie Nicks song "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around".

The duets were mixed in with the regular performances and made for a very entertaining night of music.

DeAndred Brackensick opened the show with El Debarge's "I Like It", and for the first time this season I found myself saying "This kid is talented".

Elise Testone was torn between two songs, and eventually picked Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is" to perform to the audience. I thought she did a great job, but the judges all said it was the wrong song for her voice. So, what do I know.

Phillip Phillips picked up where he left off last week as he did a rousing version of the Genesis song "That's All".

Joshua Ledet continued his charge to the front with the Simply Red song "If You Don't Know Me By Now" and got a standing ovation from the judges and high praise.

Jessica Sanchez grabbed a hold of the Whitney Houston song "How Will I Know" and made it her own, to the rave reviews from Steven, J-Lo, and Randy.

Holly Cavanagh dressed up for her song "Flashdance......Oh What A Feeling!", but the judges all said she missed it by a mile. I hope this doesn't spell the end of this talented little gal.

Colton Dixon wowed the audience and the judges with his rendition of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time". According to Randy, "best song and performance all night."

Skylar Laine closed the show with a moving interpretation of Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wings" and left all of us wanting more.

It saddens me that someone has to go home tonight, but it will be a hard choice. I hope that America got it right with their voting tonight. Reluctantly, my choices for the bottom three are DeAndre, Elise, and Hollie.

The Results Show tonight will also feature the debut of Jennifer Lopez's new music video. Should be a great show, let's all watch and hope that I very wrong about who I think should go home. Maybe the judges will use their save tonight.

At last, we are free at last!!! AFter the dust cleared and all the votes were counted we finally said good bye to DeAndre Brackensick on last night "American Idol Results Show".

In my opinion, he was the weakest of the guys that were left standing, and I thought he gave a great performance of El DeBarge's "I Like It" on Wednesday's show, but it wasn't enough and the judges didn't use their save to keep him around, much to Jennifer Lopez's disgust, I think she really wanted him to stay around a little while longer.

Opening the show was a sneak preview of Jennifer Lopez's new music video, and personally I found it, for the most part, in very bad taste to be shown on National television. Maybe it is just that I have seen it all before, and done better, or something, but I am glad that I had recorded the show so I could speed through the junk and get to the results.

"The Wanted" were not too bad. I don't understand what all the hoop-la is surrounding them, they are just another "boy" band. And then my favorite from the past, Kellie Pickler hit the "Idol" stage and her performance was as good as any that preceded her in past weeks.

The bottom three were DeAndre, Hollie Cavanagh, and Elise Testone. I have said it before, but will say it again. This year's "Idol" will come from the female ranks. We have two or three favorites that are still in the running, but I see the Finals coming down to Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet, with Jessica becoming 2012's "American Idol."

This week on 'Idol', the Top Seven will sing for our votes and on Thursday night we will get to see Jennifer Hudson and James Durbin as the former Idol contestants return to the Idol stage for our entertainment.

Could this be the week that the judges use their save, or will we have to wait another week?

"American Idol" Top Seven lit up the stage once again to sing for our votes. This time they selected songs that charted between January 2010 and present day, and we were treated to some great entertainment. Jimmy Iovine, resident mentor brought along his close friend, producer/writer/singer Akon. It was a real good night for contestants and we, as the lucky viewers were treated to two duets and a trio as the bonus extras. Here's how it looked last night:

Skylar Laine opened the show with Kellie Pickler's "Didn't Know How Much I Loved You" and quickly brought the audience to their feet. Judges said that she raised the bar for the night to come.

Colton Dixon once again proved why he is still in this competition as presented Skylar Grey's song "Love The Way You Like". The judges raved about it, but the audience was luke-warm and I also thought that it was one of his weakest performances.

Jessica Sanchez proved why she is the top contender for this year's crown as she grabbed a hold of Jazmine Sullivan's "Stuttering" and made it her own song. In Jennifer Lopez's eyes she gave it "the Joshua treatment", referring to fellow contestant Joshua Ledet.

Joshua Ledet didn't let anyone down with his performance of the Bruno Mars hit "Runaway Baby" and brought the judges and audience to their feet. He truly, along with Jessica Sanchez, was the star of the night.

Hollie Cavanagh really listened to the coaches this week and gave us a great version of Pink's "Perfect". But was it enough to keep her out of the bottom three on tonight's Results Show? I don't think so.

Phillip Phillips continued going against advice from the mentors and judges and sang the Maroon 5 song "Give A Little More" to a lukewarm reception from the judges and audience alike. He just might be in the bottom three tonight.

Elise Testone, according to the judges, gave the performance of her life with her rendition of Lady Gaga's "You and I". As Randy said, "She wants it a whole lot more".

The duets were once again Elise & Phillip singing Gotye's "Somebody I Used To Know", and Skylar & Colton, who are still denying that they are an item, sang the Jason Aldean/Kelly Clarkson song "Don't You Wanna Stay?". The trio was made up of Hollie, Jessica and Joshua as they performed Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger".

It was a great night for all, but there has to be a bottom three and in my opinion the bottom three will be Colton Dixon, Hollie Cavanagh, and Phillip Phillips. Who gonna go home? That's really tough. Who would I like to see gone? Probably Hollie or Colton. We will see, my record this season for calling the one being sent home has been terrible.

Watch tonight's Results Show as Jennifer Hudson and James Durbin return to the Idol stage and we find out whether or not the judges use their save.

Okay, now I am truly puzzled at what America is thinking after last night's Results Show.

The bottom three were probably the three who will be in the Final Three and everyone was as shocked and my wife and I were at last night's results.

Passed through to next week were Hollie, Phillip, Colton and Skylar. The bottom three were Jessica, Elise, and Joshua - what was up with that? Are people not voting for the talent and just voting for the prettiest or the cutest? I am sorry, but they got it all wrong last night, and thank goodness the judges had their "Save Card" to use as all three were sent to the safe couch.

I have never heard a more pissed off judge than Randy Jackson last night. He pushed his chair back and almost left the podium where the judges sit and headed stage left where the exit is. Jennifer was in tears, and Steven could only shake his head.

When Jessica was announced as the person with the least amount of votes, the audience went crazy with boos and screams. Steven then let the cat out of the bag by saying "She ain't goin' nowhere", and as Jessica started her song for the judges, she was surrounded by all three judges and Jennifer Lopez took the microphone away from Jessica and said "this is ridiculous, you go sit over there!" pointing the safe couch with the other six contestants.

This show really emphasized the reality of what our votes can do. We all need to remember that our votes count, and we need to vote for the best performances, not the cutest or because they are from your home town.

Jennifer Hudson and Ne-oh were show-stoppers last nigh and James Durbin showed why he was on Season 10, almost to the finish. The entertainment was good, and perhaps better than the Results themselves. Jimmy Iovine was in shock and I am sure more emphasis will be put on how America votes in the coming weeks, because the judges have used their save and can't stop anyone from going home.

The Top Seven return next week as they roll towards the Season Finale in May. My advice to those of you who watch the show and vote, like I do, is to think about who you are voting for and why, before you touch the button on your SmartPhone, Computer or regular telephone. Your vote could mean the difference in who wins or loses.

I like Elise, but she will probably be gone in a week or two. She just doesn't seem to have as big of a fan base as some of the others, despite her good performances.

I have mixed feelings on last weeks results show. I was surprised, but not shocked. Basically Joshua being in the bottom was a bigger shock than Jessica, but I thought Elise would have been the one voted off.

I'm glad the save is out now, and we can continue on with the completion. At least the save wasn't wasted this year, and saved for an appropriate week.

This really is a wild card year. There isn't anyone in the Top 7 that I can easily rule out, and for the first time in awhile "anyone can win it".

This week's "American Idol" theme will be "Now and Then", as each of the Top Seven will be singing two songs, one from the current time frame and one from the past. Should be a challenge for the younger ones, but should be a great show. Can't wait to see what Joshua Ledet picks, or what Jessica Sanchez picks.

Don't forget, "Idol" is on Wednesday night with a two-hour show and Thursday night with a one-hour Results Show.

And please, if you are watching this season, please don't forget to vote!

Well I hope that everyone who watched the show voted 'correctly' this week and we don't have that 'boondoggle' that was last week. Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet and Elise Testone didn't belong as the bottom three and the judges were totally correct by using their 'save' card and keeping Jessica Sanchez around for this week.

It was a wake-up call for all of the Top Seven, and they came on stage ready to pick a fight with anyone who got in their way. The theme this week was "Now and Then", they each sang two songs, one of which was a Number One Hit from 2000 to present and one was from the R & B charts in the past. Here is how it went:

Hollie Cavanagh opened the show with Adele's "Rollin' In The Deep" and got rave reviews for the "fire in her eyes" and not "over-thinking" the song. Her second choice was Dusty Springfield's "Son of A Preacher Man" which, again, drew rave reviews from the judges who all agreed that she is now 'in it to win it'.

Colton Dixon tackled Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" and got good reviews for making the song his own. His second choice wasn't as well received however as changed the tempo of Earth, Wind and Fire's "September" and, according to Randy and Steven Tyler, 'it just didn't work'.

Elise Testone proved she is not going to be in the bottom three this week with her performance of Alicia Keys' "No One" and got a standing ovation for her performance. It was her second song that spells 'doom' for her as she gave a very poor performance of Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On". All three judges agreed it was not a good song choice for her.

Phillip Phillips tackled Usher's "U Got It Bad" and once again had everyone on their feet at the end of his performance. His second choice brought him out from behind his guitar as took the stage with Wilson Pickett's "In The Midnight Hour".

Jessica Sanchez brought out the Jessica we all know and love with her rendition of Alicia Keys' "Fallin' " and got top marks for her performance. Her second choice was even better as she stopped the show with Otis Redding's "Try A Little Tenderness". All three judges gave her a standing ovation along with the audience for both songs.

Skylar Laine didn't give the audience a chance to catch their breath as she ripped into Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" and got the house rocking. Her second choice was even better as she tore through the Marvin Gaye hit "I Heard It Through The Grapevine".

Joshua Ledet made a great song choice, according to the judges and Jimmy Iovine, as he tackled Fantasia's "I Believe", and then he closed the show with a hit from 1954, as he did Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come" and brought the house down. He proved again that he is ready to be considered the next American Idol.

I hope everyone who voted did so wisely. Do not want a situation such as last week's ever again. In my eyes, and in my opinion, the bottom three should be Colton Dixon, Elise Testone, and Phillip Phillips. Who goes home? I think it will be Elise, although if they send a guy home, either one wouldn't bother me.

Results are in and Colton Dixon was sent home this week. We are now down to four girls and five guys in this year's search for the next "American Idol".

Really good show last night, lots of former "Idol" contestants in the audience along with Taylor Hicks and many others being talked to. Kris Allen was introduced by Seacrest and Hicks, and he sang "Vision of Love" from his new album. Pretty good song, with some very good staging effects.

For the life of me, I don't know what anyone see in a group who uses the letters LMFAO as their name, and we all know what those letters mean, and they were terrible last night. I am glad that I DVR the show for later viewing and I can fast forward through crap like that.

They did a montage of the life of Dick Clark, and then brought on this funky group that I don't think Clark would have supported at any time with the name "LMFAO", regardless of whether or not they were the next big thing.

The bottom three were Hollie Cavanagh, Elise Testone, and Colton Dixon. Was glad that America got it right last night and kept Hollie and Elise. But I think Elise has to pick better songs next week or she will be the next one to go.
