More details about the plot and some of the lyrics of the song!

This was a podcast, so I did my best to transcribe it.

There are these two sisters, Elsa and Anna, and Elsa has a deep secret. There’s this prophecy in their world that says there will be a ruler with an icy heart that will take over through their power. She has this power to control snow and manipulate the ice elements and she keeps it a secret because she’s hoping she can change and that this prophecy won’t be about her.

Well, comes the fact there’s a coronation ceremony and during it something happens and her power is revealed. Everyone is completely shocked. Elsa was chosen as the queen and Anna was not. In this moment Elsa essentially freaks out and she decides “I’m going to escape to the mountain and built my fortress of ice and rule there”. That’s a big scene in the movie because she doesn’t want this prophecy to come true but in doing so she’s making the prophecy come true by trying to avoid it (which usually happens in things like this).

Because she goes off on her own, she tries to create her own friends because there’s nobody around there so she starts making things. Chris Buck, the director, talked about when you start making pancakes and the first one is not very good and you end up throwing that one away. He linked that to this character Olaf who is less than desirable as a companion. I would say he’s more like the ‘Mater’ type; he has bucked teeth and looks like that. That’s where this Olaf character comes in, the little snowman, and he ends up helping Anna and Kristoff later on.

Anna meets with this gang of misfits along with Kristoff and she has to race against time so she can melt her sister’s icy heart. It’s not like “we have to defeat her”, but “we have to change her; to make her see the light; that this isn’t a one-way street; that she can come back”.

They gave us a preview of the song that Elsa sings as she’s run away and she’s creating her fortress. She’s beginning to accept her powers. This role is totally typecasted for Idina Menzel. If you've ever seen Wicked, Elsa is like Elphaba in Wicked where she realizes “I’m going to accept my powers, I’m going to go and I’m going to do good with them or I’m going to revolt against this corruption”. This song is totally a ‘Defying Gravity’ song. It’s even written in the same style with those high notes that Idina is known for and she can definitely hit.

We wrote down the lyrics because there were obviously no cameras allowed and they had people patrolling the aisles. Every three seconds there was someone looking down to make sure people were not having a camera, or recording this. So we had to do our best by memory. We wrote down the lyrics quickly and tried to keep the tune in our heads. We did end up missing one of the lines in there.

Wicked would have some influence in this.I mean I just have a feeling it would be Wicked Meets Snow Queen.I mean I think it would be another reason why they chose the name Frozen as well.

I understand that this was supposed to be about Disney's, "Frozen," but I have bad news. Wizart Animation's, "The Snow Queen," has just changed its release date from Friday, December 21, 2012, to Thursday, Janurary 3, 2013, the same year with Disney's, "Frozen." Disney's release date is further away from Wizart's, but what if (for example) they compete head-to-head at the 2013 Academy Awards for Best Animated Picture? That would be something. Disney would be lucky if Wizart's version could only be released to DVD in the U.S., besides in theaters. But look at the bright side, it's only for the Russia release. It's not they're going to get their version released in theaters across the U.S., unless they're trying to.

P.S. I'd be surprised if Disney's, "Frozen," wins the 2013 Academy Award for Best Animated Picture.

Who cares really? Anyway, I highly doubt the Oscars will nominate this film. Their thing is to nominate the usual Western family friendly animated films and then maybe insert one 'art' film (Triplets of Belleville, Persepolis, The Illusionist, Secret of Kells). And the Oscars will only nominate the film if it has been released in the US that year, something which deeply annoys me.

Actually, there were only two foreign animated features that won the Academy Award for Best Animated Picture. They are, "Spirited Away," from Japan, and, "Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit," from England. Not to mention two foreign live action features that won Academy Awards for Best Picture. They are, "The King's Speech," from England, and, "The Artist," from France.

P.S. For the record, Disney and Pixar's, "Monsters University," might win for best animated picture.

Why are we speculating about what films will win Best Animated Feature for 2013 when 2012 isn't over yet. And of course Monster's University might win but it isn't out yet and we can't tell how good is is. I just find your recent postscripts really strange. It almost seems like you are doing PR work for Pixar by hyping up their film while saying that WDAS's film will probably not win.

And my point was that foreign animated films won't get nominated until they have actually been released in the US. Spirited Away was a 2001 film but was released in the States in 2002, hence it getting the nomination for 2002 and not 2001. Same goes for the nomination of Howl's Moving Castle in 2005 instead of 2004. But then, there was also the bizarre case of A Cat In Paris which was originally released in France in 2010 and in the States in 2012. Yet it was nominated for 2011 for some reason.

That's because they gave A Cat in Paris a limited theatrical run in 2011 to make it eligible.

That's because they gave A Cat in Paris a limited theatrical run in 2011 to become eligible.

Note to qindarka, I rest my case. Note to Sotiris, sorry for bringing this up, but this is serious. If Wizart's version gets released in the U.S. in the same year as Disney's version, then Disney will be in big trouble seeing their Snow Queen take down Wizart's Snow Queen in 2013.

No. DreamWorks Animation's, "Puss in Boots," prevailed against, "The True Story of Puss in Boots," so Disney's, "Frozen," should do the same against Wizart Animation's, "The Snow Queen." Of course, two Snow White adaptations were competed in the U.S. "Mirror Mirror," and, "Snow White and the Huntsman." But look at the bright side, at least Disney changed the name to avoid similarities.

That's not why they changed the name, trust me.

I wish this movie would be kept out of this thread. It looks mediocre and will be forgotten the minute it leaves theaters. Foreign animated films that achieve any kind of success only come from talented filmmakers, like Miyazaki and Nick Park.

Wizart (even the name is a desperate Disney/Pixar knock-off) exists to sell dvd's accidentally bought by clueless soccer moms who can't tell the difference between Disney, Dreamworks and that whole line of cheap re-makes, like Ratatoing.

I get that this Snow Queen has a slightly bigger budget than that, but it's not going to make any kind of impact and I doubt Disney even knows it exists.

Yay, The Wizart sh#t has returned to the thread :roll:
I actually feel really frustrated averytime it's mentioned. Nobody cares!
It just screams "tacky" there is no hype for this movie whats so ever,
