So we all know this franchise isn't nearly as big as the Princess/Fairy ranges, but I found some interesting new content available on Xbox Live.

In the AVATAR marketplace, under the category "Disney" (Obvs  ) There is a tab appropriately called "Disney Heroes"

In this category there are costumes for the following characters.

So is Disney planning on making a Franchise? Who knows?

Thy tried a Disney heroes franchise a while back with Peter Pan, Aladdin, Phillip, Hercules and I think Tarzan. It didn't do too well. Maybe they'll take another stab at it. I can see boys liking Aladdin and Peter Pan. Possibly Flynn and maybe Phillip because he fights a dragon but other than that they probably wouldn't be too into Snow White's Prince or the Beast lol.

Disney could really profit from this line if they actually tried.

I hope they do bring this back, even if it remains less popular than the Disney Princess franchise. The guys should get their due. And boys need to like a Disney franchise that isn't Pixar (because it really isn't Disney). LOL

Whadya mean they wouldn't like the Beast?! When he's a Beast, anyway. Maybe they'll make him and Snow White's prince be adventurous sword-fighters too.

I have no idea why they havent fully launched this yet, or at least tried again. Got a pretty basic lukewarm launch before.

If the whole point of Rapunzel to Tangled was for boys, and it was successful, why havnt they utilized this ? Flyn dolls etc are all packaged in pink Tangled boxes !

I was thinking because unlike Eric, Phillip or Aladdin those two don't really fight a big scary monster at the end. But it could work making them swashbuckling and all. Maybe they could make Snow's man more like how his personality was orginally going to be like in the film.

Disney alter and change characters past so often, I can easily see them changing the Princes pasts and characters.

They really need action figures of all of them. Because if they were to package them as "dolls" that again pushes boys away. But if they made some swordfighting action figures or something, I would assume they would do very well.

I would love to see this take off.

They used to have action figures of all of them when the movies were first released. Not crappy little playsets like now, but full blown fully posable figures. My brother used to love them ! Think he still has a few. Again, I remember the packaging being very neutral.

I feel they didn't really try very hard with the original launch of the "Disney Heroes" line. But I really have to wonder if they would ever try again, becuase it was my understanding it's misfire was ultimately why Disney bought Marvel comics.

I remember them as well, but I swore there was a Tarzan in that line. I'm sad they didn't catch on better.

If they had pushed it as hard as Disney Princesses, would it still have flopped ?

I actually have the older Phillip and Hook action figures from the Disney Store when they first tried this. It's a shame it failed, but I believe the main reasons it did were a lack of effort in marketing and the damage done by the Princess line. You can't sell a movie to one geneder for years and then sell it to the other and expect it to work right away.

WAIT...I think Disney made those avatars just because there's that new Xbox Disneyland game. They have Disney Princess avatars for it too, don't they?

The Beast IS a scary monster! And he fights Gaston! But yes, Snow White's prince could be more heroic like he was in the past concepts for him.

I have that Maleffy fig and I love it.
As far as I remember, though, there wasn't ever a Tarzan. Prince Phillip, Peter Pan, Hercules, Hook, and Maleficent are the only ones I remember.

Giant Prince Phillip going to bust Mally's ass easily there. Look like an easy curbstomp.

From what I understand, Disney's use of their Tarzan property is limited? That would explain why he wouldn't have appeared, considering he would very likely be a staple of a boy's line along with Aladdin and Hercules.

Glad to see almost everyone agrees that the line didn´t/hasn´t work becuase of a lacking effort.

It´s so easy to just keep milking the Princesses line than to even try with the Heroes.

...it´s really a shame how the Aladdin movie has just become Jasmine.

...or how come actual heroes´ movies (Hercules, Tarzan, Treasure Planet) don´t have any kind of support.

PS

Here in Spain they still sell the line for small kids with play sets of: Peter Pan, Tarzan, Robin Hood and even The Sword in the Stone.

PS2

Aladdin fought Jafar as a huge cobra. 8)

Here's some more 'Disney Heroes' branded things:

Scroll Down a bit here, and some unmade Action figures of aladdin, Tarzan, and the Beast are shown, as well as concept art for the above action figure line.

King Arthur , seems to have been part of the list abroad, I'd love to see an Adult version of Wart as the Arthurian legends are rich with boy-marketable adventures, not to mention the fact that 'The Sword and the Stone' is the first book of a series about Arthur's life. Any idea who that guy with the eagle is???
Image

So I'm guessing the offical roster was:
Peter Pan
Prince Phillip
Hercules
Beast
Robin Hood
Tarzan
Arthur
Aladdin
Milo? (there's a coloring book of Disney Heroes floating around with him on it)

and apparently the villains are part of the series:
Hook
Maleficent

Ideally, I'd add Taran, Flynn Rider, Jim Hawkins and Phoebus.[/url]
