Is "Lilo and Stitch" a Disney movie?
This subject is causing quite a discussion on another thread that is supposed to be about an unrelated topic. So hopefully, by giving this its own thread, I can help everyone stay on point. Discuss away.
This is an unnecessary topic but I appreciate you trying to salvage the other topic from succumbing to war. How many people actually argue that it's not a 'real' Disney animated film?
So far, I count one. And that one person's opinions are really slipping on the credibility scale around here, not just because that person is fighting with me do I say that, either - many other forum members here would agree.
Anyways, yes, it is - it contains all the classic Disney elements. Is Stitch more wild than other Disney characters? Sure. But being different is also a core element of Disney character design.
That's all I will say on the subject. Starting this thread is asking for a war I have no interest to take part in.

It shouldn't have been, but here at UD - everything becomes a question eventually.

not really related, but what is the new cartoon showing stitch but with another girl who is NOT lilo. i think shes asian, or maybe just drawn in that style. its really odd... stitch doesnt even sound like himself anymore.
and i definately class stitch as disney and think it could have been a lot more popular than it was. its one of my favourites and stitch is in my top 3 of characters [sharing with goofy and dopey]

It's "Stitch!" - supposedly it has been dubbed to be released on Disney channel.
It actually connects to the original - in the beginning Stitch says bye to Lilo so it's meant to be the same world/same Stitch.

No, it's an anime. Not a Disney movie.

Well, they have Stitch quite a bit in the Disney theme parks. But then again, I suppose that they have a fair bit of Indiana Jones and Star Wars in the Disney parks, so I for one argue that Lilo and Stitch is the brainchild of George Lucas and not of anyone at Disney.Disneyphile wrote:This subject is causing quite a discussion on another thread that is supposed to be about an unrelated topic. Lilo and Stitch is not a Disney movie because there are no princesses in it. Duh!
Seriously, compare it with the great Disney masterpieces Anastasia, Thumbelina, and The Swan Princess and you will notice they all share one thing in common this movie doesn't- Princesses!!!!
I am sick and tired of this movie masquerading like it was some Disney movie! It is NOT!!! Spread the word!!
I had to share in on the fun.

It has heart.
It has drama.
It has comedy.
It has richly-developed characters.
It has amazing animation.
It has wonderful character design.
It has a smashin' score.
It has a well-written story of redemption and acceptance.
It has villains who are not one-note, one-sided, or one-anything (except maybe one-eyed).
It has love.
It has lots of love, actually.
It has family.
It has family acting like family.
It is a damn fine film, regardless of the Disney name.
