Thank you so much, Nick! I'm glad you're enjoying them so far! I'm going to start work now on the next set of ones.Nick Bryant wrote:I look forward to seeing them, I've really enjoyed the ones you've posted so far.PrincePhillipFan wrote:I hope to do some more soon.
I was going to wait to post this on Sunday, but since I'll be away, I decided to post it now. In honor of the Haunted Mansion's 40th anniversary on the 9th, and being today the release of the D23 issue special on the magazine (which I highly recommend for any Mansion fans), I pieced together this collage. I think it simulatneously works as a tribute to the mansion residents, as well as shows off Blaine Gibson's masterful face sculpting of characters. I present "Happy Haunts and Creepy Creeps."

Ooh, lots of great stuff in this thread, especially the collages.
* * *
I found a few random things online I thought would be fun to add to this thread (so none of these are my creations) . . .
Photoshop disaster:
There's always something to attack Disney over:
Bird flu strikes Paris:
If Disney governed:
Um . . .

Not really photoshop, but thought it was hilarious!
Cindy tells it like it is!
(Though technically, Disney's Cinderella didn't wait for Prince Charming. He came for her!)

Thanks pap, Walt said Cinderella went to the ball to get Prince Charming when he didn't come along...though he forgot to mention a fairy godmother and some mice and birds helped a loooooot. And then she didn't know he was the prince, and did she leave her slipper on purpose or was it by accident as, well, it looks like it was...
I still liked that pic though! I saved it!

The High School Musical 2 fail was also hilarious. Is that official? Ew!
That's hot.

Here's how I see it...Disney Duster wrote:Thanks pap, Walt said Cinderella went to the ball to get Prince Charming when he didn't come along...though he forgot to mention a fairy godmother and some mice and birds helped a loooooot. Cinderella wanted to go to the ball not just to meet the prince. She wanted to escape the monotony of her life and see how royal life is. Considering that the Tremaines made that really hard to accomplish. In other words, Cindy wanted to have fun and experience the outside word beyond her daily chores.
Note that when she arrives she is clueless as to where she is. She is looking for the prince but couldn't find him. When the prince came up to her its obvious that her life was so secluded that she saw him as a stranger. But a stranger so charming that she forgot she was there to see the prince and meet other people. Worse of all, she forgot about the midnight deadline.
When she left she was happy she could experience the ball and was grateful to the fairy godmother for granting her the wish.
It wasn't till she heard that the prince was looking for the woman she danced with that she finally made the connection between the prince and the man she danced with that she entered a "twitterpatted" state and yearned for the prince. And that was because she wanted to meet him better.
So long story short, the Cinderella in Disney's version wasn't wishing for a prince to sweep her of her feet and save her from her life. She just wanted to have fun since at that point she must have realized that she couldn't do much to escape her life (all the money now was in control of Lady Tremaine, and even then the narration states that the stepsisters were spending all the money so even if Lady Tremaine gave Cindy all her money it wouldn't be enough to sustain herself).
In contrast, the Cinderella in the movie "Happily N'ever After" was completely obsessed with the Prince, being the main desire behind her wish to go to the ball.
...And now I am rambling, apologies to everyone.

lol, I love all those ones you posted enigma. I think my favorite is the Donald at Paris one. And thank you everyone for the comments on my HM tribute!
The face was also used for two of the "blast-up" ghosts in the attic that scream and fly up into the air and back down again admist the bric-a-brac. Sadly, they were taken out when Constance took over the attic with the other pop-up ghosts.
The banshee face has popped up around the mansion in a few places. Most notably you can see dozens of them flying out of the organ in the ballroom.superaurora wrote:The Scream dude was in the HM? I never knew that.

It does look a bit like him, especially the hair with the big sideburns. Although I try myself to distance the attraction far away from the movie as possible myself, even though Nathaniel was awesome in it.ajmrowland wrote:And in the HM collage, I found that the image on the bottom, second from the right looks kinda like Gracy from the movie. Obvious changes, but the hair's similar.
Most of them all come from numerous books I have on the theme parks and animation, as well as issues from the E-Ticket and various Disney theme park blogs. Most of the Mansion backstage pictures I got too for the ballroom characters are from a friend who is also a huge HM nut like me. I pretty much absorb all the info and pictures I find.Marianne81 wrote:PrincePhillipFan Where do you find all of the wonderful pictures you you use in your collages (amazing job by the way), especially the Disneyland and Mary Blair art?

Whoops...
I forgot pap, Cinderella talks about how wonderful the ball will be, and doesn't seem to give a crap about the prince. Wanting to meet him is a lie to escape at midnight, and she says "even the Prince himself couldn't have been more...". Yea, she wanted to have fun. She was already in love with the guy before he asked her to marry him, though, can't ignore the song.
Oh, and I don't think (or don't like to think) she was lost when looking around the palace, but she looks like she is more in happy awe...
