So does this mean the Legacy Collection is dead? If so, where is Destino? I'm glad that Donald will continue but now I'm confused about what the Legacy blip was about? Does this mean the rest of the shorts and Donald Vol. 4 are at risk? Not to mention the live action stuff already started. I'm not trying to gripe by why not give us a full 4 titles just so we get the most out of this?

Wow! I'm shocked! I guess Disney listened to the fans afterall! At least, this once.

The problem I have though is that Disneyland: Stories, Secrets, and Magic doesn't really belong with the other Treasures as it's a documentary about the park made after Walt, and the "Walt Disney Treasures" are mostly supposed to be about footage made during Walt's life-time(with a few exceptions).

But as long as we're getting it, along with Oswald and Donald shorts on some format, I can't complain.

Although, are there enough existing Oswald shorts for 2 discs?

There's 11 known survivors out of 26 produced by Disney.

Call me an old cynicky-trousers if you like, but I'm a little distrustful of fan-wish-fulfilling announcements made at this time of year. I'd like to see it confirmed by a 100%, rock solid, definitely non-shonky source before I start a-whooping and a-hollering.

Aw crap...I forgot about April Fool's Day...but that's not until the first...unless they want to get a head start from everyone else...

That would totally make me pissed, though, especially since I bumped up the "don't bump unless there's good news, otherwise you get banned" Secrets DVD thread...

Well, Luke's posted this on the main page without any reference to animated-news' website, so this must be a really-for-real press release (or pre-press release).

I don't think that this is an April Fools Joke- Animated News usually posts their April Fools jokes on April Fools Day (believe me- I know...remember "Snow White and the Eight Dwarf"? I fell for that. And the time they said that AOL bought them? I fell for that.). Maybe Disney wants to save the Legacy line for more True-Life Adventures-type releases. I just hope "Destino" comes out sometime soon- I've been waiting years to get that. I'll probably pick up the Oswald set, though- it'll be great to actually see these shorts.

I agree, but it's 2Discs. So hopefully other Disneyland programs with Walt will make it on there!

I think Dizfan is right. We will probably get some more episodes of Disneyland surrounding the parks along with the feature. I just hope there are no repeats.

And as for the Oswald disc, I'm hoping for all the cartoons on disc 1 and then a huge documentary about an hour and a half long about the oldest and one of the least known Disney characters. All I really know about it was that it was Walt's first big time animation gig and how all of the artists were signed out from under him, along with the rights to his character. I'm sure we will get a cool featurette about the merchandise created and if any animators are still alive, interviews with them or their decendants.

I wish they would round it out with 4 Treasures and include Destino... I wonder if we will ever see that release. Maybe as part of the rumored shorts DVD with all of the other Fantasia 3 shorts?

Bit disappointed really. I hoped both lines would continue with the 3 Legacy volumes during the summer and a wave of 3 or 4 new Treasures in December. I don't see as the Disneyland release really fits the Treasures brand.

Oh well, at least we get the continuation of the Treasures and more Donald.

This sounds good to me, I just hope it's not going to be the final wave. Especially if it means the end of the Legacy collection, which it might. But, it's good news for me, because I still need some time to get the Legacy Collection! It's high on my list, but I need to get DuckTales Volume 2 and the 4-disc Narnia first! Just really broke right now... I wonder if the Legacy Collection just didn't do as well as anticipated, and maybe they think it's because they should have released them as the recognizable Treasures sets rather than start something new.

As for the post-Walt documentary of the Disneyland release, it doesn't bother me if they get away from the concept of only having stuff from Walt's day in the Treasures collection. Frankly, I don't like rules like that. They have so much great post-Walt stuff to release too, and it's stuff that would make fantastic Treasures sets. They could make some great sets with their 80's material, for example!

Well if Luke seems certain enough to update the Treasures page, I'm happy to take his word for it and start quietly celebrating.

Hooray! An Oswald Treasure! Yes yes yes yes yes!

Ahem, now that I've got that out of my system... Very Happy

At least there is 'SOME NEWS" that indicates the Treasures series will continue. I'm happy that Volume 3 of Donald Duck will be included.

However, I am disappointed that two of the announced Disney Legacy Collection has now been delayed and included in the Treasures line.

I'm especially disappointed in no word on what's going on with the planned Destino Legacy release.

Hopefully, more details will be released within the next few months.

Sort of off topic: I finally got a reply after two months from my letter to Dick Cook about the info that the Treasures line had been canceled. Like others here at UD, I requested that the series be reinstated - if indeed it was actually canceled. I also suggested contents for future Waves, such as the educational / commercial / public service shorts and the missing Specials shorts.

What was strange about my reply is that it came from the LEGAL DEPARTMENT OF DISNEY!! The letter was obviously a legal attempt to keep me from later claiming that Disney was using MY IDEAS in their Treasures series. I was only suggesting what I and other UD members have previously suggested.

A Disney friend of mine suggested that - since I had articles on Disney published and had contributed to a couple of books on Disney subjects - Disney was treating my letter more cautiously than from a "regular" Disney fan.

Anyway, that was one strange reply - especially since my question of the Treasures being continued wasn't addressed at all.

Oh, well ... thought some UD members might enjoy a look at some of the legal dealings with Disney.

Well I'm glad they'll be continuing, although I'd rather rather the titles announced for the legacy line would have remained as legacys, mainly because the packagaing for the legacy's kicks so much ass.

Nice to know we'll probably get all the Donald's now though. It looks as though the Treasures probably were cancelled though, hence the material for wave 7 is coming from directly what would have been further additions to the legacy line.

I got one of those replies when I was a teenager. I forget what I had written to them...

At first, I thought it was real but I looked back and tomarrow's April Fools Day. Although there is something strange about the "so-called" wave 7 release. Two gems that were part of Disney Legacy Line are now part of WDT line. What makes this really fishy is that Leonard Maltin stated that WDT is cancelled but there's no world from Maltin or Buena Vista Home Entertainment about this unless we get a press release from them. I'm 100% possitve that it was a joke. If this news came directly from BVHE then I would be surprised. If not then, I fell for it.

Kinda reminds me of last year's April Fools joke when Kram got House of Mouse DVD, then he says to the public its a CD, not a DVD. Laughing
