Looking at it now I believe the original girl's design was used as Wendy as a nice easter egg in the movie.

I think that they used the same design because they already had a fully-rendered design of a little girl from the previous version of the film. They decided to use that for Wendy so as not to waste any more time and money in creating a new one.

Thank you for that history on what happened with the Tinker Bell movies. I was wondering what happened to the 4th release. So...as far as anybody knows we're looking at Fall 2012 for the Winter Movie. How weird that they're taking Tinker Bell totally out of the title.

And....will we ever get Pixie Hollow Games as a release of any type? Even though it's only 20 some minutes long?

Hopefully, it will be included on the Blu-ray/DVD of "Secret of the Wings". "Prep & Landing" which was another TV special got released on DVD so it's possible they'll eventually release the "Pixie Hollow Games" on home video as well.

Wow thanks for all that info!
I can't believe every film had a title change

I'm really annoyed that Pixie Hollow Games is only a 22minute feature .... Surely now that's not a feature film they could add another one to the Saga??

(Is the girl in the original tinker bell film Wendy?)

is it because its airing on Disney and Disney can't drop any of its tween shows for two hours to show a full length movie?

This stinks...I was looking forward to buying it! I didn't buy the first Tinkerbell movie, but I've bought the last two.

I'll record it when it airs... if it comes to DVD, it can't be a $20 dvd...that'd be a rip off

Apparently, it can. :P "Prep & Landing" which will be released on DVD this November is only 22-minutes long and the suggested retail price is $19.99.

Quote:
Suggested Retail Price: $19.99 U.S. / $24.99 Canada
Feature Run Time: 22-minutes

I was watching Tinkerbell 2 the other day and I noticed that when Tink presents the scepter and the blue pixie dust falls the main fairies do the same actions in the secret wings trailer (Snow Angel etc,)

Just some info for you all!

Thanks for the release date!

I believe she is.

I'm not so sure about that. Yes, they used the same design for the Wendy cameo in the end of Tinker Bell but in the original scrapped version, I don't think she was supposed to be Wendy. Wendy's family was wealthy and of high social status but this girl looks like she's poor and working as a maid.

Where is this image from? Could the young boy be Peter Pan?

This image is from this trailer:

It was the original scrapped version of Sharon Morrill's (former head of DisneyToon Studios) Tinker Bell.

No. Here's what we know about that previous scrapped version:

Quote:
Tinker Bell was supposed to be initially a hand-drawn animated movie and animators had worked up several developmental reels. However in 2005, then-WFDA head David Stainton and Morrill decided that cel animation was dead and that Tinker Bell would become a CGI flick. This was over the objections of senior animators, who didn't think the film and character would look as good in CGI.

Sharon Morrill's concept: Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and the other Lost Boys had to return the gift of joy and imagination, to save the fairies from extinction and to keep children everywhere from becoming dull automatons.

In a widely disseminated announcement, Morrill hired actress Brittany Murphy to be the voice of Tinker Bell in this, and subsequent, movies.

“Neverland disappeared, Peter and the Lost Boys were enslaved in the boiler room of a real-world barge, and children all over London lost joy and imagination," claimed one insider. Of course everyone and everything is restored in the end—this is Disney, after all.”

“If anything, it’s way too complex for younger kids,” said someone else who saw the film. “They had books of rules for everything: rules for Neverland, rules for the Fairies, rules for the kids, rules for London. The whole thing was so complex, they (the animators) couldn't keep track of it. I don’t know how they expected kids to. I won't even begin to get into the fairy fart jokes or the strong lesbian tones of the original story.”

Lasseter had told Sharon Morrill that he didn't want Peter Pan, the other Lost Boys or London in Tinker Bell, saying that it would invite unfortunate comparisons to the 1953 classic Peter Pan. He also disliked the story, saying, "Fairies don't bring imagination."

Lasseter even hated the trilogy's concept: Tinker Bell's best friend discovers that boy fairies live in another part of Neverland. That sets the stage for a Romeo and Juliet story, where two lovers are caught in a war between the boy and girl fairies. The first movie ends with the Romeo fairy sacrificing himself to save his love, and the Juliet fairy going with Tinker Bell to see a performance by an all-girl fairy group informally called "The Pixie Chicks." In the second and third movies, Tinker Bell discovers that the Romeo fairy isn't actually dead, and the trilogy ends happily ever after.

^ I sort of agree, but it's a bit too 'sparkly.'

@Sotiris: Thanks for that information, the original concept sounds rather intriguing. It's a shame hand-drawn animation was declared dead back when that idea was developed. :(
