Great to see confirmation of this. Fantastic news! Now let's hope it's a 2-disc set worth of the "25th Anniversary Edition" moniker. 2006 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for animated classics and Disney DVDs as a whole.
Even though I admit that The Fox and the Hound is one of my least favorite Disney movies, I'm still happy about this release. Here's hoping it's a solid release that'll please the fans. Something tells me that with all of these animated classic re-issues this year, this (and maybe Dumbo) will be single-disc releases. Even so, I'll be picking it up to add to my collection. _________________ Kelvin

I can see Dumbo getting 2 discs worth of content, but for Fox & the Hound, we're probably only going to get a single disc in the same style as the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh's 25th Anniversay Edition. As long as the movie's remastered, I don't really care what we get. But this is a speculation thread, so I'm hoping for a standard making-of, trailers, and a voice actor featurette. That's really all it takes to satisfy me for this release, since F&tH isn't really on my list of "gotta-know-everything-about-it" classics. But knowing Disney, we won't even get that much.
The only thing we can practically confirm is that the movie will undergo some kind of remastering and we'll get a game or two. Those'r pretty much a given.
I'll be going out of my way to avoid the sequel, though. It looks like the crappiest DTV since Cinderella II.
Good news anyway. Now all we need is Hunchback and Lilo & Stitch news and my year will be complete. _________________ - John

I'm quite glad.
This is a movie I haven't seen but have always been interested on. Thank God that before I bought it, I heard the rumors of the new edition.
This year, now I need to add this one and TLM for my collection to be almost completed; then I'll just need: 101 Dalmatians, The Jungle Book and Pinochio.
PS
Plus the upgrades that are needed for Hercules and Hunchback. _________________
this film has a lot of heart, and i'm glad that it's going to get a special treatment of somekind. This year is turning out to be a Disney DVD collector's dream! _________________
I've been putting this movie off for ages, and I very nearly gave into those Ebay sellers. I just hope it comes to U.K this summer as well. _________________

Disney Cruises: 2007
I'm excited that it says "Summer 2006" and not the late in the year release that it was rumored to be. I'm hoping for a 2 disc set. To be honest, it's been so long since I've seen this movie that I barely remember it, but I'm still getting it Some things I'd like to see on the disc - making of featurette, storyboards, interviews with animators and voice cast, commentary... Hopefully the inevitable games will be more in the line of those on the LATT release.
This is my FAVORITE Disney movie. I will definately purchase it. The sequel looks HORRIBLE!! I will still buy it for the sake of collection. Also, what does OAR stand for? _________________ Wants Muppet Babies on DVD!!
Hopefully if Duckales and Rescue Rangers sell well we will get it!! Don't forget Gummi Bears!

I can't wait for this release. I still only have the VHS, and the picture is quite grainy. Anyway, I hope that it'll be a 2-disc set, I mean because it is it's 25th Anniversary. I hope that they add all the bonus features as well. I can't wait! _________________
I am very happy about this. I loved this film when I was about five or so. I don't have the GC disc only a VHS so I can't wait! I hope the bounes are good. _________________
I will be getting this, either if it is one or two disk. The movie will probably be restored, and the best format I have of this movie is VHS. I remember this is one of the few Disney movies that has ever made me cry (along with Bambi, Dumbo, and Beauty and the Beast). _________________ Best Movies of 2009:
