The song-filled adventure about Lady, a lovingly pampered cocker spaniel, and Tramp, a roguish mutt from across the tracks, will now be available an all-new digital restoration with enhanced picture and sound. Celebrating its 50th anniversary and beloved by generations, this timeless gem is recognized by audiences and critics alike as one of Walt’s most delightful and captivating animated masterpieces.

The Special Edition is an all-new viewing experience with something for everyone. Included are neverbefore- seen deleted sequences, newly discovered storyboards that reveal a 1943 alternate, original storyboard version of the film; “Finding Lady” the art of the storyboard process; “Lady’s Pedigree” the making of ‘Lady and The Tramp’ with rare footage of Walt, his hometown inspirations for the film, and more; “Disney’s Virtual Puppy” a fun DVD ROM feature where you can create and play with your own virtual puppy; “Disney Dogs Trivia” virtual board game; “Puppy Pedia” dog facts; and more. Walt Disney’s LADY AND THE TRAMP tells the endearing “tail” of an uptown Cocker Spaniel named Lady, and a carefree mutt from the wrong side of the tracks named Tramp. When Lady discovers that her beloved human owners Jim Dear and his wife Darling are expecting a baby, she begins to feel left out. She turns to her trusted canine friends, including Jock the Terrier and Trusty the bloodhound, for comfort. But when Tramp invites her to join his world of living “footleash and fancy free,” Lady can’t resist.

The Darlings’ stuffy Aunt Sarah comes to babysit, and her mischievous Siamese cats create a mess that gets blamed on Lady and Tramp. They run away, and via the unforgettable “spaghetti” scene, fall “head over paw” in love. The dog catcher is after them, however, and Lady gets sent home. But when danger threatens the Darlings’ baby, Lady and Tramp band together to save the day.

This Disney masterpiece includes such beloved songs as “He’s A Tramp,” “The Siamese Cat Song,” “La La Lu,” the beautiful Christmas tune “Peace On Earth,” and the romantic ballad “Bella Notte.” Legendary entertainer Peggy Lee composed all five show-stopping tunes, along with Sonny Burke. Lee sang three of them and served as the voices of four characters – Peg, a faded Pekinese showgirl, Darling, and both Si and Am the film’s malicious Siamese cats.

Depicted entirely from a dog’s point of view, LADY AND THE TRAMP was the first Disney animated classic feature filmed in the Widescreen Cinemascope process. I'm so excited for this release. Lady and the Tramp is one of my favorites, and reading this makes me even more anxious.

Some of the features sound really promising. "Lady's Pedigree" sounds great, assuming it's the standard length making-of documentary. I'm particularly excited about the Walt tour. The deleted scenes and original story concept, too, sound good. I'm even interested in the 'virtual board game,' assuming that's how it really plays out. The rest isn't too appealing.

I know this isn't a complete list, but after Cinderella, the absence of an audio commentary (or similar entity) being mentioned has me worried. I really hope they don't make that mistake again. I look forward to seeing what else they include on this. There should totally be a featurette on Tony's Town Square Restaurant!

It says above that both a fullscreen and widescreen edition will be available. I'm assuming that it means there will be two seperate editions, like The Incredibles DVD, instead of like Sleeping Beauty where both were included on the same disc, right?

I hate to be a complainer, but this release seems to be really disappointing. The making-of is titled yet again a "featurette", something that means it's along the lines of a 40 minute gig. The other features seem quite unimaginative, and there's no commentary or trailers mentioned. I really hope I'm wrong about this, since it's one of my favourite Disney movies. If this is what Platinum has to offer, I'll take back Collector's Editions anyday.

On a more positive note, it's nice to see the games are taking less of a spotlight.

The announced bonus features seem very promissing, specially the 1943 story concept (I hope it shows a complete early version of the film) and the making of featurette. And it is good to see the "adult" stuff getting top billing on a press-release for a change!
Still, I´m a bit worried that these are the only bonus features advertised so far. I´m sure there is going to be more, I just hope there is much more. There are lots of stuff from the vaults that must be included... like the various theatrical trailers, the Disneyland TV episode excerpts, the art galleries... And I'm really worried we'll no longer have audio commentary on the releases of older films.

Lady is the only disney classic I've never owned in any format, so I'm incredibly excited I can finally get it on dvd. The extras about the early concepts and Walts hometown as an inspiration sound really interesting and I love what they're doing for the platinum line with the last few releases.

After Lion King, the all time low for the platinum series, they've really made this line great again. Every release since then has had trailers and an in depth look at the creating process rather than people talking about how great it was working on the film. From the looks of it, Lady and the Tramp will continue this. Can't wait for it to be released. I also expect an awesome transfer and the original aspect ratio, in wich I've never seen it.

I wonder if the widescreen/fullscreen thing is gonna result in two seperate editions or like what they did with Finding Nemo and Brother Bear. Personally I hope two seperate editions, I don't want them to stuff the dvd and let the quality suffer from it.
