The Mad Kiwi wrote:I think Disney's pulling another Fantasia on us and will drop Peter Pan from the Diamond Collection (yet still give it a strong release that matches the others in every way other than title). Why do I think this? Because with every Diamond release, Disney releases a bunch of merchandise to cross-promote it. Case in point, these Aladdin books coming early next year:

http://www.amazon.com/Aladdin-Moonlight ... ayforum-20"]Aladdin: Moonlight Ride
http://www.amazon.com/Aladdin-As-You-Wi ... ayforum-20"]Aladdin: As You Wish
Now, doing a little digging, I noticed these:
http://www.amazon.com/Peter-Pan-Read-Al ... ayforum-20
http://www.amazon.com/Peter-Step-into-R ... ayforum-20
And look at the descriptions of them:
Fly to Never Land with Peter, Wendy, and Tinker Bell! This retelling of the beloved Disney film features thrilling sound effects, word-for-word narration, and real character voices! Readers can follow along as Wendy and her brothers meet the Lost Boys, experience fairy magic, and battle the evil pirate Captain Hook. Timed to publish with the 60th anniversary Peter Pan DVD and Blu-ray, this book-and-CD set is packed with fun and adventure. Now, I realize the second description mentions "Diamond Edition," but I'm willing to bet that's outdated and will be fixed in the coming months. The point is that these books are specifically timed to be released concurrently with the Blu-ray.Boys and girls ages 4-6 can follow Peter, Wendy, and Tinker Bell's adventures as they battle Captain Hook and the Never Land pirates in this Step into Reading adaptation of the beloved Disney animated film Peter Pan, coming to Diamond Edition DVD and Blu-ray in 2013!
So, to me, it looks like Disney is doing what they did with Alice in Wonderland last year and is releasing a high-profile 60th Anniversary Edition in February just before the next Diamond (Alice before Bambi, Peter before Aladdin). And if Alice is any indication, this will be a Diamond Edition in every way (top notch transfer, extensive supplements) but in name. As long as Peter's release is as strong as that one, I don't care if it's called a Diamond Edition or not.
And while we're on the subject of cross promotion, could these be pointing to another early 2013 release?

Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2012
I forgot to post this info as well. The same thing is being discussed on the Blu-ray.com forum.
It almost seems to me as if the term "diamond" only refers to titles that will be converted to 3-d-( little mermaid.. Possibly Aladdin/ Mulan) Anything else is just " we don't give a flying hoot!"-edition

Don't be daft, you aren't being rude at all!thelittleursula wrote:Sorry to be rude and everything but does anybody have any information on the Aladdin Diamond Blu-ray release ?
Joking aside, we haven't had much news other than what was advertised in the inserts for the Lady and the Tramp Blu-Ray. However, some people have noted that a new set of Aladdin storybooks are coming out around February/March of next year, which would at least suggest that a Blu-Ray release of some sort is still happening. Perhaps towards the end of the month, or when Cinderella is released, we'll see a proper trailer.

But Disney Reporter also lists Return to Never Land as a November 15 release.Scamander wrote:Disney announced the German release date of Peter Pan. It's November the 15th! No word of "Return to Neverland" though.

@Lnds: Disney Germany is pretty reliable on announcing movies 3-4 months before but there are countries that don't have huge announcements and sell them some weeks earlier. I think titles as Fox and the Hound are samples for that.
However, I guess it's possible Disney will add Peter Pan 2 soon. Disney Reporter is sually right in what they tell so we can assume they will both come out on Nov 15.
