I would really appreciate your help on this one, guys.

I'm trying to propose a research topic to one of my lecturers for a penology subject I am doing (i.e. the study of prisons and punishment).

What I want to research is prison films - specifically COMEDY films.

This may seem a little odd, but if we can judge a society by the way
it treats its least desired (prisoners), can the same be said for the way we LAUGH at them?

What I need YOUR help with is some specific examples.
So far I have the following related films:
- The Blues Brothers
- Porridge (the TV series)
- Life (with Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence)
- Lucky Break
- Mean Machine
- Two-way Stretch (1960) with Peter Sellers

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Try not to make them too obscure, as I do have to find and watch them at some stage :P

Cheers and thanks in advance.

Trading Places and The Santa Clause both have comedic scenes set in prison.

Actually, Trading Places might be a good example as it features the two extreme prison experiences (rich and poor) and how treated differently, even in comedy.
Thanks Luke....
These are all good ideas guys. Cheers!

So what kind of project are you doing for school? Planning of doing a presentation or a paper or what?

It is both.
It is my final semester at uni, and I'm doing a subject called penology just to make up the numbers really.
There is a 5000-6000 word essay, coupled with a 25 minute presentation. You have to choose your own topic. I was originally going to do something to do with drug users and the prison system, but the lecturer mentioned he was cool with movie related stuff, so i went one step further and chose comedy... :D
