Why doesn't the DVD Empire scan of the regular cover show a Platinum banner...I'm not really worried because the pics from DVDFile prove that it'll have one, but I'm wondering why the scan at DVDEmpire doesn't. Does the slipcase not have one but the actual Amaray case does?

I don't know why. They both have the banner on mine.

I wouldn't worry, Disneykid. The images that these sites use for their products are usually given to them in advance and the artwork gets modified many times in the months preceding its release. For example, the Amazon pics still have the "FIRST TIME ON DVD" banner which is on a small peelable sticker instead! Even the images Luke posted recently have since been modified (repeated below):

<img align="center" src="http://ultimatedisney.com/images/aladdinset.jpg">

<i>e.g.</i> On the spine of both the slip-cover and the DVD box is a picture of Aladdin and the words Aladdin SPECIAL EDITION, replacing the genie and dropping the words 2-DISC. Also the text around the edges of the DVDs is missing above.

I notice the <b>dvdempire</b> pic includes the "OPEN HERE" tab so is meant to represent the slip-cover, but it's missing the big "Version francaise incluse" circle that is next to it on mine. Plus, (and this will please a lot of people who weren't sure if Disney would do this, this year), there's a "Buy 3 Get 1 FREE" sticker down the bottom...

Is it just me, or is the index on the second disc actually useless. Apart from showing the first disc contents, it's the same as the main menu!

Should it not of have short cuts to the segments in the Diamond in the Rough documentary etc.

Also, I hate these pointless "making ofs" for the new music videos. It's promotion for what is already promotion. I'm looking forward to a "making of" for all the Sneak Peeks on the Bambi PE.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

the "Version française incluse" circle is only on the Canadian sets, not on the American's. And the other promo stickers are removable so not necesseraly on every picture of the cover you seen.

For real cover, watch the eBay link I've given a couple of days ago :

Chandler (to Phoebe, over the phone) : Listen, Joey isn't gonna be here tonight so why don't you come over and I'll let you uh.. feel my bicep; or maybe more...

Grammar correction time!

Should it not of have short cuts
It's "Should it not've had" not "Should it not of have"

I know what you mean but later on you might get it wrong in another situation where it's important to get it right.

The text indexes are kind of pointless seeing as how they are just as basic as the regular bonus features menus are. But there are shortcuts to every single segment of the Diamond in the Rough, so that's covered.

Well it seems that all the R1 discs that I buy from <b>play.com</b> have a tiny Canadian flag on the back and the "Version francaise incluse" print on the front.

Perhaps <b>playusa</b> should rename themselves <b>playcanada</b>!

All the POP that I'm placing in stores this week has the same banner scheme pictured that we've seen with the first 3 Platinum Editions.

You all may be interested in this information I pulled from Amazon's item info page for the original VHS tape release from 1993.

Release Information:
Studio: Walt Disney Home Entertainment
Theatrical Release Date: November 25, 1992
<b>Video Release Date: September 28, 1993</b>
Run Time: 90 minutes

It's interesting, they missed coinciding with the exact 11th anniversary of the original release by a mere week. It doesn't matter much but I find it interesting to note how close the timeframe is to last time out. Of course, last time out it became the #1 selling tape ever (only outsold later by The Lion King and Titanic), which it sadly probably will not do again. However, it's nice trivia. It will be interesting to compare sales from last time to this time. Last time obviously it had the huge advantage of being new, having been talked about and anticipated for nearly a year since its theatrical run and the simple fact that it had never been out before gave it huge momentimum. This time, it will probably still sell huge numbers, as it should and as I hope it does, but neither the VHS nor DVD is going to approach the hieght of sales they got 11 years ago, I don't think.

Still, we'll see. The fact that it hasn't been available for over a decade has surely pent up demand for it, and since it's brand new to DVD, that should help out enormusly, too. The holiday season release timing, and the fact that this will be a big loss leader product throughout the season (Black Friday specifically should help it out a LOT) will help it do well.

Then again, Disney could essentially put this out on any day of the year and do huge numbers in terms of sales. I think though the best comparison will be to the other Platinum titles, since they came out with (relatively) the same strengths, weaknesses, and timeframe that Aladdin has. Specifically, though, I'm sure people will be comparing it to Lion King mostly, since the fact that Snow White and Beauty and the Beast had such short availability windows essentially concentrated sales into one timeframe moreso than with TLK or Aladdin since they will remain in print for a long while.

Well, I just got Aladdin today, and it was a wonderful experience watching it again after so many years.

After I finished watching the movie, A Whole New World (for the record, I think its probably the most beautiful song ever written) was stuck in my head . . . until I watched the Simpson / Lachey video.

Blech, it successfully made me sick of the song already. Jessica's voice is especially grating in the video. Just makes you appreciate how good the performance in the actual movie is.

Here is a photograph of a sealed version of the gift set that I found from a seller on Ebay. Looks pretty official to me, and I can't wait to get mine in the mail!

How goodie! Can't wait to have mine in hands.
It seems the paper band reads "7 animation drawings", right? Nice, since the press-release only stated 4 or 5.

By the way, here's a French DVD review with lots of screen caps:

Yes, I believe the Lion King set had more drawings then advertised prior to release too.

Yes, it did. It has 9 drawings, while the press release said there would be 5/

At the last minute, I'm on the fence about the gift set. I've always wanted it, especially given that Aladdin is my favorite movie of all time, but I'm wondering if there's anything in it that I'll use more than once other than the actulal DVD. Normally I'd just go for it, but I'm wondering because if I spend on this, I won't be able to get Mulan first week, whereas if I get just the 2-discer, Mulan will be easy to obtain ASAP. Thoughts?
