It seems Disney has indeed dropped the animated menus... Hmm, only if the backgrounds of the Disc 1 menus have some animation. By the way, Mulan looks like a Barbie doll in the main menu!
Well, I liked it a lot... Specially the disc 2 menus. They look classy and sophisticated.

Thanks a lot for posting, Luke! :)

Can't say that I'm crazy about these, but they'll suffice. :P Thanks for posting, Luke.

I have mixed feelings on these. On one hand, they're quite classy and refined, but on the other, they don't seem to be animated (or at the most have very limited animation) and most aren't 16x9. I love animated menus and it seems Disney's abandoned these in favor of their new Easy Access system, which was what I was fearing when I first heard about that feature. Oh, well. At least we're getting substantial contents, which is what matters.

I find these menus to be better than the 3D animated ones. Sure some animation would be nice for the main menu, but I really didn't like the 3D Disney was producing for their DVDs, as it loked sooooo bad (almost as bad as the 3D train in HOTR  ). I like the design, with the chinese antiquities/influences to them. I like how EasyFind is really making the menus much easier to find stuff on the disc.

I'm surprised the menus aren't anamorphic widescreen, although maybe Disney just provided the media with the 4:3 versions! Here's hoping! It really annoys me when the bonus features (featurettes) and menus aren't widescreen enhanced while the film is!!!!!

In general, menus from Bonus Features discs are just 4x3, whereas the disc with the film will have 16x9 menus.

I think the menus look stunning so far. Is it confirmed that they're not animated? I'm personally hoping they'll appear on the screen like the Great Wall in the opening.

And perhaps I should check my Art of Mulan book, but I don't recall ever seeing the girl pictured in the 4th picture. Is she an early concept drawing of Mulan?

Disney did something different and it was worth the change.
I love the menus because they are so creative and different.
I know Mulan isn't one of the popular Disney films but I do like it very very much!!!
Thanks for the sneak peek Luke!!!!

I like the menus. They are very well done. I also think that they are animated. I like this style more than the mostly cheap looking 3 D style.

I agree that some of the CG menus are really crappy (The Lion King - the ugliest Disney menu ever!), but Disney has made some really beautiful menus. My favorites are the ones for "Sleeping Beauty", "Treasure Planet", "Brother Bear" (my favorites) and, of course, the Pixar ones. The "Snow White" and "Beauty and the Beast" menus were pretty neat too. It will kinda break the "circle" if "Aladdin" does not have animated menus. And I think it is one of the movies with best possibilities for menus. And I don't mean character hosters, but animated environments, like the ones on "Beauty and the Beast".

I agree, Joe. Animated environments help put me in the mood for the film once I pop in the DVD, and I gotta admit, it's fun seeing well known Disney areas in CG (hence why I love virtual galleries). It's a shame that they've seemed to abandon these, but at least we'll never have to worry about another Lion King menu fiasco where it's like playing a game of "Where's Waldo."

I like the menus, but I hope they aren't boring like the very first Disney DVDs where there were just pictures and no music or anything. I like the menu music tracks, even if they sometimes freeze and reloop again. I like how they used concept art in the menus. It makes it seem more like an actual in-depth 2nd disc film analysis. The menus on the original Vault Disney DVDs are very cool and so are the "environment DVDs." I also liked how they changed the sneak peeks menu to look like the little intro sneak peek title screen. I hope they kept that for Mulan: SE and all the following DVDs.

That last picture of disc 1 & 2 Indexes don't seem to have alot of features like they said. Where's the trailers? story boards? Galleries?

You're forgetting that Disney classifies their features under general headings, so the galleries will be in the Design section and the storyboards in the Story section.

I think the menus look great, much better than i was expecting! They definately fit the Chinese setting of the film and AREN'T RUBBISH 3D ONES! :D

I also think that they *are* animated aswell. If you look at the first one you can see two kites flying - i'd place a bet on them being animated at least, aswell as the scenes from the movie in the background.

Does anyone have screen captures of the menus from the first Mulan DVD release? I'd like to see how they did that one.
