Looking for old "Fantasia" documentary

Post by filmmusic »

Hello.
I am looking for an old documentary about Fantasia which i had seen on TV maybe in the early 90s.
It isn't this:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0407780/
(this is newer, and shows Roy Disney wearing a Fantasia 2000 T-shirt.)

The one I'm saying, was made before Fantasia 2000.
Does anyone know which is it and where i can find it?
I've searched everywhere in the net..
(I'm almost sure that this had also David Odgen Stiers, but I can't see it in his filmography)

I specifically remember a scene that in an interview a man said about the color of the trees in the Pastoral Symphony that it was inspired by marmelade.

I think you're refering to a documetnary called "Fantasia: The Creation of a Disney Classic". It is an hour long documentary that aired on The Disney Channel as a special in 1990. I believe it was issued on VHS and Laserdisc as a supplement in the Deluxe Commemorative Edition:

This documentary has not been included on any of the DVD or Blu Ray reissues.

Former Disney archivist, Charles Solomon, wrote a brief description of this for the LA Times when the film premiered in August of 1990:
