Hopefully Disney didn't just decide to cancel Aladdin as the Diamond Edition for purely political reasons (the recent anti-American riots and attacks in the Middle East...) but in all honesty, I can see them doing just that. If they gutted one of Howard Ashman's last songs for politically-correctness, I can see them treating this movie differently because they're afraid of it evoking 9/11 or anti-Islamic feelings in Americans. Like we're all so petty. (Could you imagine if we were? "Boycott that kid's movie! It's Muslim! We don't want our children looking up to terrorists!" ...

) If the rest of the world gets Aladdin as the Spring Diamond edition, that'll answer it for me.
Hopefully it is for the 3D conversion. But it would have made so much more sense to release that THIS year, to capitalize on the film's 20th anniversary. Honestly, we should have gotten Aladdin this year as the Fall release anyway, instead of Cinderella. Wasn't Aladdin released on Platinum in 2004, and Cinderella in 2005? If they'd have released Aladdin this year and Cinderella next year, it may have given us time to harass Disney about Cinderella's horrible transfer and 'restoration' and there might have been time to fix that. Peter Pan coming out as the Spring release DOES make sense, though, because it is the film's 60th anniversary.
