Yes, it will be included on the Blu-ray disc of all the combo packs. It won't be on DVD though.

Oh ok. So When Secrets of the Wings comes out, it will be on the Bluray combo pack as an extra?

In honor of Secret of the Wings, which debuts on 3D Blu-ray on October 23, Disney Parks has officially confirmed it will be introducing Tinker Bell’s new wintery friend, Periwinkle, as a meet & greet character at the Disneyland and Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom theme parks. No specific date has been given other than her appearances will begin in October.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced delays to two upcoming direct-to-video animated feature releases. Planes, the spinoff from Disney/Pixar's Cars, is now scheduled for Fall 2013 (original release date Spring 2013). The fifth Disney Fairies movie, Quest for the Queen, is moving from Fall 2013 to Spring 2014.

What a shame! I wonder if they'll give us another television special in return... I hope it's for the best! And I can't wait for 'Tinker Bell and the Secret of the Wings'... We need a sneek peak or a new trailer, by the way!

You still call it that? Well, in most countries overseas the film will retain its full title.

The new trailer was a bit disappointing! I hope the film is better than that!

Tinker Bell and Periwinkle are sisters?

If the shape and design of the wings is the equivalent of genetic code in the fairy world, that means that the babies from which Tinker Bell and Periwinkle were born must have been identical twins. But in the first movie, only one baby was in the cradle and there weren't any other cradles in the nursery.

Plot holes!

Forgive me for being dumb, but where did the news come from then that Disney were worried about the series not taking off as much as they wished, and they lopped down how many movies they were making ? As that seems to have completely swapped over and they are now doing more, and have even given us an short as well ?!

Maybe they just didnt give it enough time ?

The news were accurate back then but things change. The second Tinker Bell movie hadn't sold as well as the first so they were going to cut down on the production of more films. Then the third movie sold much better and the ratings for the TV special were really high so they decided to keep making them.

Here's the report from back then:

January 15, 2010
Steve Hulett wrote:Disney's direct-to-video cartoon division (now run by J. Lasseter and E. Catmull) isn't moving production personnel like Warners, but it's going through changes of its own.

"We were going to do eight or ten Tinkerbell features, but studio chief Richard Ross [who replaced Dick Cook] has cut the number of features back.

The second Tink feature didn't do as well as the studio thought it would. I mean, it did well, but not up to the company's expectations. Maybe it was because it came out the same time as a couple of big theatrical animated features, maybe it was because Dick Cook didn't have different units in the company working hard enogh to build synergy.

Whatever it was, Ross reduced the number of shows. Now we do features with the four different seasons (we've done two) and then one more after that. A total of five. After that, it's on to the new series of features".

Well good, I am glad Tink's future was turned around; the series deserves it. They are well written and well executed features for a DTV release (though they are not technically that over here, as they are all release theatrically).

I think they have been successful in creating and expanding Tinkerbell's world and everyone in it; I am so glad they are able to develop it further.

I wonder if this will alter their thoughts on the abandoned Tink expansion in Fantasyland ?

Tinker Bell shorts are coming!
Steve Hulett wrote:The next Tinkerbell feature gets released this October, and the following year the first Planes feature rolls into Disney's distribution channels [...]

The studio is in the process of developing shorts for both franchises which will (presumably) go on the little silver disks.

In other news:
Q: Do you know whether they will continue making Tinker Bell features after the fifth one scheduled for 2014? Or will they move on to other projects?

Steve Hulett: I'm informed that Diz Toon will keep making them as long as they keep making nice money. Richard Ross cut back the number of Tinkerbells on the slate eighteen months ago. Richard is now gone, and I believe the total amount of Tink features that the studio plans to make has expanded again.
