That's exactly what I've been saying/thinking. What really bugs me is that she's stuck a brunette in Tangled Ever After when her bride doll gets to have her trademark golden hair. I mean, really!Semaj wrote:She's more interesting and recognizable with her long hair. Just like Pinocchio is better known as a puppet and the Beast is better known as a beast.blackcauldron85 wrote:I thought of something last night! So, you know how some fans are kind of outraged that Rapunzel, whether in merchandise or in the park, has her long blonde hair? What about Pinocchio? He's always portrayed as a wooden puppet-boy still!
Honestly, I hold nothing extremely personal against her being a brunette, but I seriously love her better as a blond and I wish that grew back instantly after Rapunzel saved Eugene's life. Even if it's wishful thinking.

Well, there are some Rapunzel dolls with brown hair:

It kind of bothers me when I see a blonde Rapunzel wedding doll, though, since she was a brunette then...

First, I'll say that I love brunettes (all hair colors, really). However, Rapunzel looked better as a blonde. Maybe if her brunette hair wasn't quite so short, I wouldn't dislike it as much, and I'm not saying she isn't still cute, but I do think the long, blonde hair suited her better. I also felt like I was seeing a different character in the end of the film and it was hard to suddenly view this person as Rapunzel. I mean, it wasn't a subtle change, like just the color or the cut, it was both, ha. It was sorta like the way people felt a bit detached when Beast turned into a human again, though this bothered me more, I guess because I really adore Rapunzel.
The sad thing is, this could have been avoided. I know they had to cut her hair, but it didn't have to be cut short, and it didn't have to change color. They didn't have to make her look like a completely different person, and it wouldn't have caused confusion with the merchandise (Rapunzel wedding dolls with long, blonde hair annoy me too) and the meet 'n' greet characters in the parks, who are also still the blonde version. They easily could have kept her hair blonde and only cut it at her ankles to keep Rapunzel looking like Rapunzel for the future of the franchise/merchandise/whatever, ha. I know you can argue that they did this for dramatic affect, and that is the most important thing, but I, personally, feel the fact that it makes her practically unrecognizable in the end counters that.

I'm sure Keane and others went over this dilemma while working out story problems.slave2moonlight wrote:First, I'll say that I love brunettes (all hair colors, really). It seemed like she would've been more distraught over losing what she came to use as a special appendage. Even though her hair was the only real use Gothel had of her, Rapunzel never expressed any interest in cutting it.

I think they also wanted to show that it was the golden flower that made her blonde. And I think they also wanted to show that girls with short brown hair, which is considered more plain, can still be beautiful princesses.slave2moonlight wrote:They easily could have kept her hair blonde and only cut it at her ankles to keep Rapunzel looking like Rapunzel for the future of the franchise/merchandise/whatever, ha. Rapunzel's hair was representative of her imprisonment, and having it cut off set her free, both physically and metaphorically. She was told all her life that it was the one thing that made her special, yet she eventually discovers her spiritual beauty was not defined by it.
Story-wise, it works better to let her have that visual change.

Agree to disagree, I guess.
The hair was so very long that it didn't need to be cut THAT short. I understand the dramatic power of the act and the metaphor (not that having a metaphor is crucial), but I still feel they took it too far since it made the character harder to identify as the same character we had been following through the whole movie. Maybe if she had more screen-time as a brunette, but...

Appearantly a lot of French people don't like it when a show/themepark is in their country, but not in their language. So almost everything in Disneyland Paris is French, with some English for people from other countries.DisneyDude2010 wrote:It's in Disneyland Paris! Most of the shows are like that, it's weird.blackcauldron85 wrote:^ What a great show! But why is some in French and some in English???
Kind of confusing if you don't speak French (or not very good, like me )...

I've always found flats more appealing/sexier than high heels, so I like to see them on the Disney girls. Sandles are fine though. I don't know how they would look with Rapunzel's dress though.

Nothing against flats in general, but the ones on Rapunzel just look like they're paint-ons.slave2moonlight wrote:I've always found flats more appealing/sexier than high heels, so I like to see them on the Disney girls. I just don't know how they explain to kids why the Rapunzel wedding dolls have long, blonde hair. It's frustrating enough to me as just a fan who doesn't intend to buy one anyway.
PS: Wish I'd seen those Looney Tunes shorts, they look interesting! Already have Tangled Ever After, so even though I got one of those impressive Wedding invitations when I bought that Rapunzel Animator's Collection dolls for my friend's Easter basket, I didn't see it as worth the trip. I didn't have it yet at the time, but I had already seen it in theaters and online... Almost went out a couple days earlier (I think it was) for the store anniversary Mickey Ears for the first 200 or whatever people, but then I decided that wasn't worth the trip either. I'd prefer traditional Mickey Mouse Club ears than silver ones that say Disney Store 25th Anniversary or whichever it was on them. Gotta pick and choose these days to keep my clutter down.

What makes Daffy's Rhapsody so awesome is that they used a 1950's track off a children's album recorded by Mel Blanc! I had a copy of that song several years back from a Dr. Demento anniversary album and always thought it would have been cool had it been made into a short. And now it has! You can see a clip of it here; the quality isn't all the great but you get the idea.slave2moonlight wrote:PS: Wish I'd seen those Looney Tunes shorts, they look interesting!
