It might even help if they simply did a flashback to different scenes than Colors of the Wind. The meeting under the waterfall, or the kiss at Grandmother Willows would have looked more effective then referencing another song.

Eh, as enigmawing points out, there's really only so much you can do when one of your characters is tied to a pole. Yeah, it's a little uncreative, but I've never heard a better suggestion. And no, I don't want to see a spinning shot of two people at a stake for three minutes.

For anyone interested, here's a photo I took today of the separate DVD releases of both films. Honestly didn't realise they were releasing them on DVD in Aus! Still love the artwork they've used for the original

DancingCrab wrote:Actually, the flashback footage did bother me a little at first, but I'm forgiving of it, seeing as the song was added back into the film for dvd. I would actually prefer some fresh animation of them singing in the tent throughout the whole thing, as it seem a little silly to be having a flashback to what feels like the day before.

But still, the song is one of my favorites and really catapults the drama WAY above where it was in the theatrical edition. I still think it was one of the stupidest editing decisions ever done for any movie, taking the song out.
According to a trivia book I read about Disney films once (I don't remember its name, but it was written by David Koenig), Disney had some real worries about the sequence. They added the flashbacks because they thought the scene would be boring to the kids. Which was the reason they cut it out in the first place.

Just watched the trailer again.

It´s funny how a 1:15 trailer shows around 5 seconds of the sequel.

...looks to me they´re not very proud of it.

Pocahontas
Video: 5/5
Audio: 5/5
Extras: 3,5/5

Pocahontas's transfer is spotless. Compared to the HDTV-rip that's been floating around, this release has been "colour-corrected", but don't expect tremendous differences. The extras are ok, a lot has been ported over but there was no audio commentary for example.

pocahontas 2 movie collection is now available in Malaysia. in a commendable move it puts the sequel title much much smaller below the original movie on the cover. the bonus contains everything including the virtual vault. everything seems great tho due to the 'color correction' some scenes look oversaturated and less contrasty while several problematic scenes such as the blue nights have been fixed. IINKY is still a separate bonus. :( the menu is loverly :)
do you still wait for me Dream Giver?

sadly the virtual vault is inaccesible for the time being...i dunno whats the problem. ive plugged my dongle and server but a notification keeps popping out. maybe it'll activate once US gets its release..(or maybe the local distributor made a mistake? which is usually the case  )

as for the other bonus features..they are

the audio commentary
drawing inspiration: the lost story of hiawatha
"if i never knew you" deleted song
the music of pocahontas
deleted scenes (9 scenes)
little hiawatha cartoon short
discover blu-ray 3d with timon and pumbaa

and i added a personal bonus...watching pocahontas in 3D with 2D-3D conversion :D

interesting. here, we got more extra features but no virtual vault, which is a good thing.
no audio commentary though.

I don't have the Greek edition yet, I've checked the Russian edition. Around here the movies are released separately so the Hiawatha short was put in Pocahontas 2.

So, here goes:

Interactive menus
Loading screen

Drawing Inspiration: The Lost Story of Hiawatha (New + HD)
"If I Never Knew You" Deleted song (with option Audio Commentary)
The Making of Pocahontas
The Music of Pocahontas
Design
Deleted Scenes
Sing-Along Songs
"Colors of the Wind" Music video
"If I Never Knew You" Music Video
Early presentation Reel
Multi-language reel
Production (Storyboard-to-Film, Production Progression)
Blu-ray 3D with Timon and Pumba

Lame. Im sick of them doing this crap to their movies. Their completely flattening the picture when they remove the contrast like that. It looks so muted now. Nothing pops anymore. I feel like Im wearing 3d glasses that tint the picture when I'm not.
